You coach against an opposing teams tendencies. When they throw something new at you, you have very little information and time to make adjustments to what they're doing. It's just a fact. Three hours or less during game time vs days preparing pre-game time.
Dave_in-NC;1855836 said:Agreed. We need to sharpen up.

PULEEEZE!
Washington's last 29 offensive plays were PASS plays, including their last 37 of 38...because they were BEHIND. You think somewhere in those last 38 plays somebody MAY have made an adjustment? Good grief.
If you can't make adjustments on the fly...you're in trouble. The game's all about adjustments.
SultanOfSix;1856968 said:Well, maybe he did. But, the team just sucked in coverage because they didn't practice the scenarios more or as hard as they could have for things they didn't expect.
If you're such an expert, why don't you go to the coach and advise him on what he should have done?
The game is about execution. Per Troy Aikman, "adjustments are overrated".

No 'maybe' about it...look it up if you know how.
Someone would have to be ignorant to think teams don't prepare for more than one scenario in a game.
SultanOfSix;1857030 said:Who said he didn't prepare at all, or for more than one scenario (which is just silly)? Maybe the coach wasn't as focused on it as he could have been, or was possible to. Teams tend to stick to a game plan that guards against that which the opposing team is best at, because it makes their chances for victory greater. Not a bad assumption to concentrate on the running game - the 'Skins bread and butter - when Campbell was playing like an average QB. So, Wade and the rest of the coaching staff concentrated on the running game, and gave secondary attention to passing scenarios that the 'Skins never used before.
It's a not a difficult concept.

1st) to say " lets keep our starters in until the game gets out of hand" is stupid. 1st of all, there is no way you can just say that as the skins will be playing with everything on the line, and have won 2 straight at home against you guys. You are a better team from last time, but we are playing like a damn good team right now.
2nd) We are not taking this game lightly at all. Gibbs does not coach his teams into thinking the game will be a lay up. You guys want us out and we want in. Everything is on the line this game. I hope you think we dont care about this game.
FuzzyLumpkins;1857033 said:And really unless you have some osrt of statistic of teams that rest 4 or more of their starters in the last game of the year as to how they fare in the playoffs then you have no point.
I have seen teams like the Colts and Bears do it and have been seeing it for years. As much as im sure you guys want to see an entertaining game, I would prefer we have players fresh and ready to play after a grueling 15 weeks that has shown us getting dinged up heavily the last few games.
Think about it. We seen TO, Gurode, Romo, Canty, Newman, Ratliff, Watkins, and others miss time in the last few games. That should tell you something but you guys babble on about how they need to stay sharp with little to no basis to go by.
I completely agree. I love killing the deadskins, but not at the expense of losing any starter. We will stay sharp in practice, but I truly believe our backups can win in Washington, and I hope that's how it goes.Rack;1856399 said:I don't care how we're playing now. With the way the injuries have mounted the last two games, I don't want to take the chance.
Sit Romo.
Sit Barber after the first quarter.
Sit Witten after the first quarter.
Play as many backup OL as we can.
Sit Glenn. Give him even more time to strengthen that quad.
Sit Ware. I don't care how many more sacks he could get.
Sit Newman and Henry as much as possible.
And rotate in everybody that can play. Lets see Stanback, Carpenter, Spencer, Rogers, Oglesby, Ball, Brown, Bowen, Hatcher, Tank, Killer, McQ, Free, Proctor, Austin, Hurd, Curtis, etc...
