Why would we not trade McFadden?

At this point I am at a loss as to why we would not trade McFadden. He is third on the depth chart at TB and then we have Dunbar and Whitehead for change of pace backs. There is no need for McFadden.

The only reason I can see not to trade him is if we can't get an offer. But at this point, any offer, even a 7th in 2029 is better than nothing.

Because you can't get anything for him and it makes more sense to have some insurance than another 7th round pick.
It make MORE sense to have a 3rd string TB not be activated to play in a single game than to trade him???

No, it makes sense to trade him.

ive heard Broadus say that McFadden is most like zeke in being an all around back, that if zeke gets hurt McFadden could most replicate him in the offense better than Morris, Dunbar, or Jackson

that is not true at all..........Morris steps right in........McFadden would force the whole OL to change the way they block

He's just basically a $1.5 million insurance policy.

On a team that might have a $20 million insurance policy at QB. They are just keeping him on ice without using a roster spot in case Zeke or Alf get hurt.

Yep, and apparently they're paying him every penny of his salary when they aren't required to.

Hush money.

You answered your question to a great extent. Besides, having insurance (a la Leary) is worth more than a 7th round pick. Worry about moving him in the off season. There's no rush now. No pun intended.

Correct. Same strategy has worked great with Leary who wud have fetched a nice player in the exchange. Standing pat is right call.

Don't know about that, think Morris' ZBS familiarity is a little overblown. Cowboys run a hybrid blocking scheme anyway so if Morris has to start they would zone block more while our OL would have to man block more if DMC started. That's why Zeke and Murray are/were more successful because they can be effective in both schemes.

I'd trade Morris right now if we could upgrade at a defensive position.

At best maybe you get a 5th round pick, but hes probably worth more as insurance, or just to keep him away from an rb needy team. At this point I say we release Dunbar. I like Dunbar as he is a very talented receiving back, but its becoming hard to justify a spot when hes only available a few games a year. Mcfadden may not be as shifty as Dunbar, but is a much more complete back.
