No he's not significantly better. While Wilcox could have been better when asked to play man coverage, the coaches know to not even bother with Church because he flat incapable. He is incapable of breaking on anything more than 5 yards from him.

Wilcox is quite good taking deep middle, halves, and single high. QBs attack Church's zone. How do you think all those passes in the middle were being completed? You think it was all on Wilber and Hitchens?

The deep pass went away two years ago when Wilcox started at FS and teams started completing underneath. Teams threw away from Lee on the weakside while Church was the easy read on strong.

Church is a more consistent tackler and in pursuit. That's it and he missed several key tackles last year.

I dont want Church starting. Coming in as 3rd safety maybe, but Frazier hasnt really been talked about yet..they say he is like Church but may actually be able to cover somewhat.

Really, JJT? You think the Safety who just got demoted who's going into the last year of his deal and who's had challenges on the coverage units on special teams might be in trouble?

If either of the Safeties we've brought in here can cover or tackle, we'd be stupid not to stick with them over Wilcox. If it's close, the tie is going to the rookie.

That could just as easily be because Jones is a natural FS and that is the spot Wilcox plays. If so, that has nothing to do with Church's relative ability. They did draft a SS too. They act like they want to improve both spots.

Remember that time Wilcox hit Odell Beckham Jr so hard he gave him a concussion? Odell said he'd never been hit that hard before. I think JJ broke his own nose too.

ESPN's Jean-Jacques Taylor believes Cowboys S J.J. Wilcox is on the roster bubble.

Wilcox has started 29 games the last two seasons, but he has struggled in run defense and has just four interceptions over that span. With Byron Jones moving to safety full time, Wilcox's days in the starting lineup are over, and his spot on the roster could be in danger as well. He is scheduled to earn $1.66 million in the final year of his rookie deal.

I don't think Wilcox is a bubble player because of numbers.

Other than Church, Jones and Heath, who is going to beat him out for the fourth and fifth spots? Frazier might take one, but we don't have anyone else at safety.

Now we could keep six corners, but it's hard to argue that the contenders there are much better. Three spots are set with Carr, Scandrick and Claiborne. Are three of these better than Wilcox: Anthony Brown, Deji Olatoye, Terrance Mitchell and Josh Thomas?

I think Wilcox sux. Church is better but nothing to brag about. Church is probably an average but not good safety and Wilcox is just plain junky. That's why he will be off the team soon. But it's ok, he got to make some money from Jerry. I'm tired of watching him miss tackles and taking bad angles.
