Will Dallas Dump Owens in 09?

Mick, give it up. There are some on this board that are going to hate Owens no matter what.

They hated him before he came here.

He could lead the league in every statistical category for WR's, but if HE doesn't bring the Lombardi trophy to Dallas by HIMSELF, he is pond scum.
I keep hearing all of this "get rid of T.O." talk, ... if we do, they all better hope we can replace his production on the field or our offense will look like a wagon train in mud.

Owens is due a $3.1 Million roster bonus if he is on the roster on March 1.

60/40 odds he is gone before March 1.

I hear ya.

I think some are banking on Romo's level of play improving once he doesn't have Owens in his ear all the time complaining about not getting the ball.

I could see that happening, but I don't know if that will fix all of Romo's issues. That coupled with some tougher coaching could do the trick. But I'd rather they keep him until Roy Williams proves he can play in this offense.

In the three games which Dallas (with a far less talented team that today) faced Philadelphia which Owens played in, the Cowboys were 1-2 and competitive. Having him land in New York or Washington isn't an omen that Dallas would automatically go 0-2 or 1-1 against either team in '09.

Technically, they save 600,000 if they cut him... I agree that seems like nothing given he will count 9mil (or more) whether he stays or goes.

The only way Owens' can hurt the Cowboys within the division is if he goes to either the Giants or Commanders and his "big numbers and productivity" helps either team beat Dallas. Nothing else would matter.

I pointed out that when Owens was previously within the division with the Philadelphia Eagles, his "big numbers and productivity" did not automatically result in Dallas losses. Again, that's the only thing which would matter for this team.

It's also highly conceivable that should Dallas be as competitive or more competitive than New York or Washington, his "big numbers and productivity" would be likewise negated in future matchups with Dallas.

Now, if that is not the gist of what you thought I was stating, what exactly are you going on about?

I think you can't do that this year actually because as of now 2010 is an uncapped year.
