Will Dallas make a run at Haynesworth?

With all this talk about Ray Lewis, lets talk about what the achielles' heel was for the last game of the regular season; we basically got no pressure on McNabb. Football games are won in the trenches, and if we sign Haynesworth, and slid Ratliff over to his more natural position at DE, we could have a championship defensive line!

I think Haynesworth could be our Charles Haley rather than an aging, declining player in Ray Lewis. Plus, could you imagine him and Gurode going at it every practice? It would fire other players up to PRACTICE HARDER.

We could, but it would leave us virtually no room to do anything else. Don't see it happening.

I think we lost the Philly game because we turned it over fifty times, not because we didn't get enough pressure on McFlabb.

I'd love to get Haynesworth, but he's going to get a mint from someone, and it won't be us.

the thing with Haynesworth was that his best 2 years(last 2 seasons) were also contract seasons. will he continue to play like that once he gets a fat contract?

I hope the heck not.

Look at this guys track record when NOT in a contract year and how many games he has missed.

He is looking for a payday and when he gets it, the lights will go out.

He is a knucklehead.

It is an option that I wouldn't oppose.

And now with Wade taking over full duties on Defense, maybe it's time to give him whatever he needs to make that area of our team the dominate part. Let the offense play catch-up on it's own and determine for itself if it wants to be an intricate part of this team or not down the run all while we rely fully on our defense.

Ya Baby let's do it Baby! We should had from the beginning by drafting him when back then we needed a DT in the 2002 and we wouldn't be stuck in the 3-4. We need a leader up front young and Hunger. We move him to Chris Canty's spot.

Let's see, Ware with the largest NFL contract ever, Haynesworth wanting a contract in the neighborhood, and Peppers thinking he is worth more than Ware.

I can see us fielding a 3 man defense, four if we throw money at Ray Ray.....

I can't wait till 2 weeks comes and go and we don't sign anyone

and then a couple more weeks go by, and we sign a couple of role players

That's generally what smart teams do.

And what Dallas should do. Doesn't mean Jones won't resist the temptation to do the smart thing and sign some overrated player to ridiculous $.

Haynesworth is a force and would allow Ratiff to move to DE. Forget Ray Lewis, he isn't leaving Baltimore and we don't need another old man on this team, could use the supreme leadership though. Julius Peppers will not be here either and Anthony Spencer will not just be thrown to the trash nor should he be.

We can afford Haynesworth after getting Ware signed, the Harrison contract talks will be a good barometer of what Ware gets in his first 2 years of the contract but we are talking about 2 totally different structures and rightfully so. If we do get someone like Haynesworth character beware and there better be some serious character clauses in that contract.

Furthermore, don't expect any other huge signings if we get Haynesworth and do expect Barbie Carpenter to get his shot with a vet to compete for the starting ILB spot that will be vacant. We would most likely take care of safety in the 2nd round of the draft if this signing is made. Ultimately, what impacts our defense greater? A dominant defensive tackle or ILB? Julius Peppers isn't happening and I don't see how he thinks he would be dominant in a 3-4 unless he plays OLB and that means Spencer gets comprimised.

I agree with you about both in your reply.

We arnt going to sign Haynesworth.

And he's never been a 3-4 NT in his life that I know of. He's always been a 4-3 DT. He'd be a waste as a 3-4 NT. He's also a guy I'd never sign to a huge free agent deal because for alot of his career he played like a dog. The "B" word was used quite a bit with him his first couple or so yrs in the league.
