Will Dez even want to re-sign for us?

Is anyone else in here worried that if we keep up this level of mediocrity that Dez may not even want a contract extension here? I mean the guy is a top 5 talent at WR in the league and is going to obviously lock himself up foreseeably for the rest of his career wherever he goes next. I hope to God its here. But as a competitor, i sure as heck would never sign for a team with no direction to end my career in and waste my talent at. Thoughts?

For better or worse Dez is probably a Cowboy for life. He bleeds blue and there's probably only 2 or 3 other guys on the team I could say that about.

If Dez wants to win, if he wants to be a factor in the game plan every week, if he wants to be treated like a No. 1 receiver, it could be in his best interest to play for another club.

valid points OP.. no way to really know what Dez wants. like some have said, hopefully it is to stay patient and stay here.. but in all honesty, I don't see how any sane person can look at how this organization is run from top to bottom and deduce that winning superbowls is its main priority.

If somehow I was privy to that kind of information and discovered that most of my teammates and/or coaches REALLY only cared about collecting a paycheck, then I would seriously consider my options

Not if they keep treating him like a secondary receiver, there is no excuse for TW to get more targets than him especially when there were 1 on 1 situations yesterday.

He'll get his $15-16m/year contract and be paid like Megatron and Fitz and that contract plus a $20m+ contract for a franchise QB will eat up 1/4 of the entire cap for two guys.

It's the conundrum of having a superstar WR like that.

He is in a sport with non-guaranteed contracts. Jerry will probably do his best to figure out some way to extend him prior to hitting FA. So yes he will likely resign here.

I would do it sooner rather then later, the better this guy plays, and it seems like hes only getting better this year, the more money he is going to command. Is this not his last year on his rookie contract?

Pretty sure this is not his last year, I believe that's next year. And we can;t do it right now, the Sean Lee extension was the last one we could do this year because of the cap.

Money talks the rest walks. J/K but players have to really consider each contract. You only get so many and you never know when it will end.

Edit: Jerry will try to get him locked up with an extension. Hope his agent is smart.

idk if he will tbh, he will have to go through the rebuilding after Romo retires which might be 1-2 years of major sucking

depends on if he prefers money over winning or not.

if he truly wants to win, he'll be headed somewhere else.

In this day and age, you can suck one season, get a top 5 pick, and turn your franchise around.

As long as you make the right pick.
