Will Dez even want to re-sign for us?

I think he will but money talks.

People forget allegiances very quickly when you are tossing out millions of dollars.

No better place to be than Dallas then. No state income tax and Jerry writing the checks.

He can go to any of the Florida teams with no tax. Seattle. Texans.

I'm not saying he won't resign but he does have options. We'll see.

Is anyone else in here worried that if we keep up this level of mediocrity that Dez may not even want a contract extension here? I mean the guy is a top 5 talent at WR in the league and is going to obviously lock himself up foreseeably for the rest of his career wherever he goes next. I hope to God its here. But as a competitor, i sure as heck would never sign for a team with no direction to end my career in and waste my talent at. Thoughts?

Wouldn't blame him if he didn't, that said, please stay Dez! When is it ok to start demanding the offense flow through Dez?

We'll franchise him so it really doesn't matter. Plus, he will take long term money over multiple one year tags judging by his rough upbringing. Jerry won't trade him to Houston and he has no reason to play in Miami/Tampa/Jax.

We'll see. You seem sure. I'm not as confident as you are.

I just think the NFL put rules in place to prevent things like this from happening. It's very rare you ever see a young superstar walk, let alone a superstar playing for the biggest franchise in the NFL. Regardless of our underperforming we always try to field a winning team. I'd give it about a 1% chance he leaves.

He's top 2, imo. Garrett hinders him.

...and Jerry writing the checks.

Under the cap other teams have just as much money to spend. BUT WAIT…almost every other team will have more money they can pitch at a player like Dez since Jones has painted us into a corner with obligations and dead money.

I do agree about the tax benefits, but it's dubious that will play into the decision.

They are only going to offer him so much. We will offer what the market calls for plus we have the franchise tag weapon. He wont even be able to negotiate with other teams.

If we franchise tag him…his yearly salary will likely be in excess of $10-12 mil. It's very possible we won't be able to afford even that.

If he wants to have a great career, make a lot of $, and live in a 7-9, 8-8 world, then YES!

If Dez walks so does a lot of my passion for this franchise. We need 21 other Dez Bryants on our team.

....... Ratliff essentially left because of a spat with Jerry. Money meant nothing. Say what you want... but i think Ratliff will come back. Maybe not this year, but one day, and he'll return to form for another team.
