Will Henson have proven anything by Draft Day?

I was just thinking that if Jay Cutler falls to #18 we should know a great deal about Parcell's plans based on what he does. If he passes on Cutler then we know that he is going to wait another year for a QB and go with the three we have now. If he takes Cutler, or another QB on the first day, we know that someone has to go, and that would prolly be Henson But what if Henson shows greatness in NFLE?

I don't believe he will have time to prove anything by draft day, and therefor, won't impact the decision(s). So all Henson can really do is play to be traded. Is there time for him to show anything before Bill and Jerruh have to make a decision come draft day?

I think the better question is, with Parcells here does it really matter what he proves at any point?

We won't draft Cutler at 18.

Unless Bledsoe and Romo go golfing together before the draft and have a tragic sandtrap accident.

The Cowboys aren't drafting a qb. Parcells and Jerry are in win now mode and are going with Bledsoe, Romo, and Henson. They will probably bring in either a FA rookie or a 1st year FA to compete in minicamps but that is it.

And how do we know this?

Parcells brought in Bledsoe(he also seems to like Romo with at least some intrigue with Henson whom we already know Jerry loves), he only has one to two years left to coach and Jerry said that they are going to do everything they can to shoot for the super bowl this next season. Drafting a qb in the first round isn't shooting for the super bowl next season.

I doubt we draft a quarterback. I really have not seen any indication that we would.

I could see us bringing in a Free Agent if Parcells is looking at Henson going to Europe as a Make or Break time.

No way we draft a quarterback in this draft because there are way too many other positions that are holding us hostage at the moment.

I personally dont think we draft a QB while Parcells is in town....

Parcells has already proven through his own actions that he's too old to groom a young QB, so that is enough proof for me that we won't be taking Cutler or any other QB in the 1st round. This is really not an option anyways because there's no way Cutler drops down to us at 18, to get him we would have to move up into the top 10.

Season starts March 18, its a few weeks earlier than the usual start for NFLe which means the players will back sooner, possibly for minicamps(which may be even more reason for BP to send Henson). Training camp in Florida starts February 10.

Define greatness in NFLe. Is there such a thing?

Is it anything like the winner of the NIT basketball tournament that gets to say "We're #65!!!"

My guess is if you're sending someone to NFLe to address some questions, you probably already know the answers.

Given the competition in Europe, even if he plays lights out he still might not have proven anything. If the Cowboys like Cutler and he is there then take him. Imagine a QB controversy between 2 good QB's for a change.

what is the odds that Jay Cutler could outplay and start over Bledsoe in the next two years? Probably ZILCH so expect Tuna to draft defense (LB) and build a great defense. Then when Tuna leaves we can grab a young QB and let the defense and running game carry him ala Pitt, NYG as opposed to setting the QB up for failure ala DET, HOU, etc.

So, I guess we are in the same boat as the Skins! Sacrifice the future for the coaches glory? Don't want to be there! We won't have a starting QB in 2008, just like when Troy left.

See, I don't understand this... What makes us think he's "too old" to groom a QB?? He's gotta draft someone right? Meaning he's going to be grooming somebody. Romo and Henson have both needed "grooming," and yeah they may not be starting or playing much, but I don't think they've warranted much playing time from what I've seen. Is it really that hard to believe that these guys just aren't that great? Romo was undrafted and Henson was better at baseball.

I think that if Parcells finds a QB that is a good value for the pick that he'll take him.... Whether that's Cutler if he drops to us, or someone else later in the draft.

i can't comment on the skins really but i don't see it as "coaches glory". if anything it's the smarts and patience to realize breaking in a rookie QB (at a huge salary cap hit) is counterproductive both short term and long term with a marginal team around him.
