Will Jerry ever let us draft an Option read QB?

I realize Romo will be here for a few years but the league is changing. Teams with read options and mobile QBs are where it is. Its such an advantage to have a QB that cant run. All those converted 3rd down options. These guys that can pass as well are just flourishing. Even Alex Smith looks good moving. Its always a threat and keep a defense on their toes.

It really is the future unless ur a prodigy arm and brain like Peyton Manning or Brady.A QB that can move is so hard to defend. Romo used to move way more before and that's what made him difficult to deal with even though he didn't run much he moved around a lot at least. Now they have him just standing there.Thats ok if ur Brady not Romo.

It is really not any sort of future, quit watching ESPN talk about Chip Kelly.

17 why don't you think it will last? Its getting more and more prominent. From NCAA to NFL now.

His name was Quinthy Carter BTW.

That's what I was thinking.

Q wasn't a "read-option" guy but he was more of an athlete than he was a QB.

Jerry became infatuated with Randall Cunningham and that's why Quincy who had debatable 4th round talent (I wouldn't have taken him at all... Not with like a college career completion percentage of 49%) was drafted in the 2nd round.

Horrible, horrible draft pick. Bad QB.

They actually tried running the option with Q. It was comical.

This Brett Hundley is really good. Arm is accurate and runs like a horse. Draft him in 2 years.

The most horrific part is that the scouting staff had their assessment of him dead on in saying he wasn't good and they still picked him.

One of the reasons why the quality of play in the NFL has taken taken a dive is because of what college is producing, gimmick offenses that dont run block. On the other hand the NFL can only trot out there what the colleges produce. So they may as well make the best of it.

You're right and they (the scouting staff) were right.

During that time period, it was one bad Jerry move after another... Drafting Quincy and Tony Dixon in the 2nd round. Trading away the 1st round pick to Seattle for Joey Galloway.

Just so bad...

"Let"?

Odds are he's going to force one on you.

amen, he will pick one high in the draft, much to our future detriment....as always, when he gets cutesy with picks, he is a day late and a dollar short (like picking TE's 2nd in the draft 3 times recently - he wants to be the patriots)

LOL. The days of Quincy Carter are like a bad memory - who was our HC then ?

BTW - i dont think the option read is going to be here for years to come either, but it sure did provide for some exciting football last year.

haha. i had to laugh at this. But i do hope / think jerry has learned from some past mistakes. And the team seems to be going in a positive direction. But only time will tell.

I agree that the direction has been positive over the last few years and I will give a lot of that credit to Garrett (did I just say that????)...I do give JJ a lot of credit for his UDFA players...he seems to hit on that more than you hear most teams hitting on them...I hope to God that he doesn't take a read-option QB any time while Romo is here
