Will Jimmy Johnson be the next head coach?

I think Parcells will coach for at least 3 more years. And I hope he coaches for even longer. But does anyone think that Jimmy Johnson will be our next coach?

Reconciled with Jerry Jones (who has a new attitude towards head coaches). Is there a possibility here?

I seriously doubt Jerry makes Zimmer or Payton the head coach.

Doubt it. Jimmy seems way too happy not wearing any shoes and sailing around in FL. Plus, with all the investment in the 3-4, not sure Jerry would let him dismantle the current system.

Don't tease me... JJ was the second greatest coach in the history of the Cowboys.

There cannot be a fan out there that would not give up his eyeteeth to see this happen.

Jimmy and JJ reconciled but I'm sure they both know that the coach/owner thing could easily ruin that again, or atleast Jimmy realizes that. Plus, Jimmy is getting up there in age and has not made any indication of coaching interest to my recollection. I think Parcells' replacement will come internally.. Sean Payton maybe.

Sorry......I really do not invision Johnson ever returning to coaching. Why? He works 4-6 days month on TV job.....and spends the other days on his yacht in Florida. As much as I would love to see it happen....I dont think it will

Then again he may for some reason get in trouble with the IRS and need the money.

Stranger things have happened.

I can't see it. Jimmy's having too much fun analyzing games on Fox. I would certainly welcome it though.

Yeah it always better to be the one second guessing than the one being second guessed. LOL

It depends, if BP had an issue with Jerry, or his health, and just quit, Jimmy might take a serious look. This team is primed and ready to blast off.

Hard to pass up.

I agree completely with the first part.

Not so much with the second. I think this team could field a successful 4-3 (or any scheme really) with the current players without any issue. This was a draft filled with versatile players. It allowed the team to play BP's 3-4 without sacrificing any flexibility for now or the future.

The only pure 3-4 guy is Canty and I think he is a good enough athlete that he could find a spot in a 4-3.

Jimmy is 62. How many years will we get if he comes back in two years?

Ideally, I'd like to find a fired-up college coach and staff and let them have at it. It worked once:)

How would it ruin it. Jimmy Johnson wanted more control, and Jones wasn't willing to allow that. If Jones can get along with Parcells, he can get along with Johnson just as easily I think. I don't even think JOhnson would necessarily dismantle the 3-4, especially if it works out well.

I seriously doubt if Payton is ready to be a head coach. Neither is Zimmer.

Jones brought Parcells out of retirement, maybe he can do it again.

A lot of fmr coaches have come back from retirement. I don't remember any of them showing signs that they wanted to before it actually happened though. Did Gibbs?

Let's see how long Parcells stays before we start speculating on a new head coach. I personally don't see JJ coming back. He is enjoying retirement way too much.

I seriously doubt that Jones' ego would ever let him bring Jimmy Johnson back...no way.

Their relationship was basically ruined the last time he was here. They have personalities that don't necessarily match. Parcells' doesn't match either, and they've made it work, so far.. I just don't think Jimmy would be willing to go through that again, especially when he's at the age of 65 (3 years from now). Furthermore, I personally don't think JJ's willingness to give up power is going to last once Parcells leaves. I'm not saying he's going to want GM powers again, but he's going to want some kind of power.
