Paraphrasing a lot here, but it was a great listen.

Taco Charlton - I was big on Taco early on (in the draft process). Went after Taco in the first round because he has upside and is athletic. Can play RE, LE inside. Played 4 different positions at Michigan.

Why they felt going DE then CB was good strategy - Felt that pass rushers that fit our scheme started to diminish. You don't want to compromise the scheme of the defense.

TJ Watt - we really liked TJ. People will see the combine numbers and say he's explosive. Well a lot of guys looked explosive, but we watched the tape. We thought he could play DE, but it was a projection. Probably a better fit as a 3-4 OLB. You wanna go for the guy who's done it that has the potential and upside for how you want to play.

Awuzie - Instinctive. Versatile. Smart. We don't wanna cross train guys too much, but he can play multiple positions. The more versatile guys are, the more they're able to contribute to your squad.

Power 5 - A lot of people say, "Will you're a Power 5 guy." No I'm a football guy, looking for good football players. Football players come from everywhere. Romo and Big Ben weren't Power 5 guys. Khalil Mack wasn't a power 5 guy. We're looking for a scheme fit. Number one thing were looking for is a guy that loves football.

- If all the corners would have gone, there were a couple of receivers and safeties we liked.

Xavier Woods - We really felt strongly about Xavier. We brought him in here. Part of what we've been missing here is guys that make plays on the ball. Guys that have instincts. Tom Robinson is a big analytics guys and has been helping us out in that area. If you tend to make plays on the ball in college, you tend to make plays in the pros.

Ex-Dallas Desperados HC - Greatest thing in the world for him. Trying to find talent there as a head coach helped him in his job now.

Future - Very happy with his role right now. It's family and he wants to be apart of building championship teams here. Who knows what the future holds, but loves the organization. 10 year old son is my world and loves it here. He had the opportunity to take other jobs and talked to his son. Son said, "No, we've gotta be Cowboys."

Draft Strategy - We fight for the integrity of the board. When you draft, you do a combination of BPA and need. When Xavier was there, we said we got a great value on this player here. We pay attention to when players we rated high are slipping in the draft. Mentioned you can't fit square pegs into round holes with BPA. Goal is to improve your football team.

Misconceptions about Jerry - Jerry listens to us. He believes in us. He doesn't make these picks without listening to us. That's why I'm very fortunate to be here. He rightfully takes the credit, but also takes the blame. He has a great belief in what we do. One of the biggest misconceptions is he makes picks without our input. He has the power to do that because he's the owner, but most of the things he does is with our input.

Tidbit on Irving - I've missed a lot, and hit on some. David Irving was a guy that I thought he was freak. We tracked him and wanted to get him off the practice squad.

Loved the misconceptions about Jerry and draft strategy. It's a combo of BPA and need - very logical except to the BPA purists out there.
The misconceptions about Jerry aren't misconceptions at all. He used to shoot from the hip constantly in the personnel department. Randy Gregory was ALL Jerry's idea. Ro McClain, Greg Hardy, Pacman Jones.....those were Jerry's moves. He likes character-flawed guys because he is a character-flawed guy.

Hopefully, Gregory cured Jerry once and for all. Stephen/Garrett got him under control, and McClay earned his trust.

I'm ready to commission the statue in honor of Will McClay right now.

True. But when the scheme of the defense keeps your options limited to certain kinds of players/fits a draft, well.

We will see how this choice comes out. I preferred Watt. They did not. Should be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Awuzie - Instinctive. Versatile. Smart. We don't wanna cross train guys too much, but he can play multiple positions. The more versatile guys are, the more they're able to contribute to your squad.

Versatility is nice, but so is being very good at the things you are asked to do. Hope they hold to the not wanting to cross train too much.

I thought the idea Jerry Jones running the war room with an iron fist listening to no one disappeared a long time ago? He has always been a victim of who he surrounds himself with and who he chooses to listen to.

Tidbit on Irving - I've missed a lot, and hit on some. David Irving was a guy that I thought he was freak. We tracked him and wanted to get him off the practice squad.

So why did they not claim him off of waivers after Kansas City cut him?
