Will McClay to focus on more Power 5 schools!

Do we remain the dumbest team in the league? We just can’t shut the heck up. No this isn’t exactly giving away our draft board of course, but why would you even say this?
I think you answered your own question.. lol

Well, that seems like a stupid idea. Focusing more heavily on Power 5 schools doesn’t actually improve drafting....it does the opposite. It shrinks the talent pool, encourages safer and lazier evaluations, and increases the risk of over drafting “name-brand” players. In the process, you miss late bloomers, system fits, and hungry players who had to earn every rep instead of being handed exposure.

The job of an NFL scouting department isn’t to follow recruiting trends, it’s to find players who can play on Sundays, regardless of where they started.

A lot of your lower schools have players that are finally starting to mature and get better

I'm not sure what a power 5 school is, but hopefully we no longer look at South Alabama State, or San Jose State for players to help us, get players from the big schools!

Sec, big 12, big 10, acc and pac 12 etc

Did it take 36 years of wisdom to figure this out?

Someone should be digging heavily into Indiana, arguably the best team in the Country, with only 1 first round pick???

Every team organization in the NFL knows all the wells to drink from. The player roster of successful and rapidly improving teams is readily available to know which schools they came from. What about the NFL Combines, particularly the NFL Scouting Combine. It's pretty much like a wide open exhibition and you can see the buyers and what they are interested in and that's before the draft.

It's basically a crap shoot either way. There are as many examples of talent being found at HBCs and division II schools as there are busts that came out of Notre Dame or USC. Jerry likes to gamble so his propensity to try to find the next Larry Allen out of Sonoma State seems higher, maybe, than other teams.

Your picks in the first 3 rounds cannot be projects or dudes with loooooong injury reports. They can't afford to bring in a guy with injury concerns because they can't contribute early or consistently and not using free agency on anyone other than comeback stories is a bad combination.

This year more than anything , As it stands they have no second or third round picks....

they have to stick to BPA and I would prefer defense first, should get a stud your first two picks ,if they trade into the 3rd and an extra 4th ok, Maybe we can get more players.

I still feel like this something might happen with George Pickens He might not like getting tagged he may refuse to sign the tag if he starts crying the Cowboys could take the first round tender whatever they get for that is it just 1 1st round pick 2 1st round picks they definitely could then open this draft up and have more money to spend in free agency...

But again as it stands they don't have a lot of money or a lot of draft picks so they got to get it right they got to hit on both their 1st round picks and they should be defense....

Why would we do something like that

This is plain dumb from Jerry Dumbo GM Jones. It is not the players it is the owner, GM, and defacto Head Coach being the same person with no NFL player personnel experience.

Funny but Curt Signetti has only 8 four or five star players. 46 three star and under the least amount of any top ten team, yet he is crushing all time programs.

Belief- culture - discipline - accountability. If your players have that you won’t need a star next to your name.

Make it stop. His statement is ludicrous. Can we just draft good players, regardless of where we find them? Focusing on school seems like we are limiting the net we should be casting.

Is this McClay's idea or is this McClay's instructions?

I prefer the "leave no stone unturned" philosophy.

How about concentrating on any possible place you can locate great NFL talent.

You might even try a college like, gosh, I don't know......Sonoma State? I heard they got a little lucky there once.

Draft football players, I don’t care what school they come from. It’s not important.

Wish more fans and programs, media outlets, understood this better. You are right. I can't recall much hype or big promises coming from the IU program. They let the results speak. The Cowboys need to take notes.
