I would not resign Williams I would go after a Breece Hall We have burned him out like we do everything..

He’s about to hit a Zeke like down slide

Not his fault, though - put it on McClay

I wonder if he would have made different decisions than Jerry Jones when it came to the draft free agency, and trading players.

All that McClay can do is make his recommendations as one person in a committee of about a half dozen. We have absolutely no way of knowing his degree of influence when it comes to roster decisions.

RB was certainly among the least of our issues last night. That said, I wouldn't mind if Williams goes, he's just sort of average. Still looking for a fast back who can break tackles and make guys miss, seems like we always have bruisers or guys with straight line speed only. Meanwhile other teams put in their 3rd string guys I've never heard of and they look amazing.

For the umpteenth million time - McClay doesn't make the picks.

I suppose it's his fault Miles Sanders got hurt also.
Oh yeah, for the umpteenth time @Rockport said that McClay is the actual GM, not Jerry and that he makes all the picks but Jerry gets to announce them. Hey, don't shoot me, he actually believes that! lol

Jerry doesn’t even know all of the players on our current roster. Seriously. He whiffed when asked about a couple of down the lineup guys who had start earlier this year and when asked about them in a pregame he didn’t even know what position they played when asked,

I really doubt he has a deep knowledge about who we are picking. He’s a part-time GM as he is since he is also the owner and has his oil and gas business. Real GMs spend 50-60+ hours a week on managing their team.

McClay gives him the board, probably highlights a couple of names in yellow, and then steers Jerry to where he wants him to go. As to the other scouts, well, they all report directly to McClay.

If there’s someone McClay doesn’t like, he just leaves him off the board.

And we all heard the stories of a team calling Stephen to offer a prominent player and Stephen didn’t even know who he was talking about.

I’d be curious to know why you feel so strongly that Jerry is actually working the draft board.

What is McClay's role? Whoever is evaluating and recommending players to the decision makers is really bad at it. We have missed on a lot of premium draft capital (1st, 2nd, 3rd) over the last 3 years. Not to mention the poor free agents that we continue to sign like Sanders, Murray, etc.

He actually has been more than average…..good vision, good at getting yards after contact, REALLY good at that actually.

Williams looks really good considering he came off an injury and we didn’t expect much. Also he’s miles above Zeke who was our starter last year. But at the end of the day fresh legs and a cheaper contract would be good. He’s average or above average but we can find average or above average without breaking the bank on a resign.

Isn’t Murray and Sanborn Eberflus’ picks/guys? I’d rather get rid of Eberflus than McClay.

I can't fault him for taking Blue. A lot of fans here were high on Blue. Of course we don't get the benefit of meeting the prospects to assess their intelligence and maturity.

I think the problem last night was more about Detroit being more physical at the LOS and more active in their LB group than Javonte Williams. He is not a breakaway runner. He needs a gap to get started. Detroit was gang tackling last night. The Cowboys offensive line has had some stinker games and last night was one of them.

Maybe Phil Mafah would be someone to take some miles off Williams while giving Dallas a power runner. But they could definitely use more speed.

Would you guys want to trade for Bijan if ATL called on draft night in 2026?

VP of Player Personnel - he runs all player development and scouting

He is is yet another example of the rot and decay of the Cowboys front office.

Once you give Jerry your loyalty and you show the appropriate deference, he will keep you forever.

Jerry - 35 years - GM
Stephen - 35 years - COO
Charlotte - 35 years - Marketing
Jerry Jr - 35 years - Sales

Todd Williams - 31 yrs - VP Football Ops
Craig Gliebert - 35 yrs - Travel/Logistics
Jason McCay - 13 yrs - Football Tech
Adam Prasifka - 25 yrs - Salary Cap
Brian Wansley - 30 yrs - Player Dev.
Will McClay - 24 yrs - VP Personnel
Jim Maurer - 36 yrs - Head of Training

will has been here how long? they won't even make the playoffs this year, stop defending him

He only has 215 carries 16.5 per game. Hardly a ton of mileage.

We need a compliment who can stretch edges and catch out of backfield.

That was supposed to be Blue.
Carries are not the only mileage a back takes on though. Because he is willing to put his body in harm's way 20-25 times a game in pass protection Williams is taking those hits too. It is what it is.. I still think he's fine and the line just got their butts whupped last night.
