Will not having a legit pass rusher hurt us down the stretch?

Gotta pass the ball more effectively than they do. If you can do that without sacks, then you can win games. We pass it pretty effectively because we can avoid disadvantageous passing situations. It gives us a huge leg up. It's only going to hurt us agains teams like the Broncos where they can also do everything effectively. Then those games will come down to who turns the ball over.

Yep. Broncos are the most dangerous team in football. The only thing that separates us with them is a pass rush.

They have Demarcus Ware and Von Miller. We have Jeremy Mincey and George Selvie.

And that is a difference measured in light years...If it comes down to Denver vs. Dallas, the boys will face some real kryptonite. It may be that it is just Denver's year...the additions on the defensive side looks set to push them over the top. No team not named Seattle will have the secondary that can really control them...shoot-out city, so your offense better be primed and ready to produce prodigious amounts of points...or else!

Our sack leader has 1.5 sacks up until this point. I think this as well our lack of defensive turnovers may hurt us down the stretch.

if they keep stripping the ball like they did Sunday, I would be tickled blue...2 or 3 times they did it!

Spencer is still trying to get into game shape. He was good the week before, but this last game not. I think eventually he'll show some of his old self in a more consistent basis. Don't know what the deal is with HMelton. He is a ghost. If Lawrence can get some pressure, then it should free up some other guys. But who knows. At least we are getting pressure, just not sacks.

But we have a running game and imposing offensive line. If we played them, our O-line would easily win. Ware and Miller wouldn't be the reason we lose. The reason we lose would be getting outscored by their high-flying offense. If we have trouble sacking other QBs, we'll have no chance getting to Peyton. He releases the ball in under two seconds. Our secondary would have to play lights out for us to win. It's possible but it would definitely be our toughest matchup. Seahawks destroyed them last year because of pass rush.

And the Seahawks linebackers and secondary were on the broncos WR like glue. That won't happen with us against the Broncos.

But to play the Broncos, we'd be in the super bowl and that is incredible that it's even a possibility worth thinking about.

Ware and Miller have problem staying healthy the last few years, interesting to see if they can manage it this one.

If we can run the ball effectively and control the game clock, it really doesn't matter about the sacks and pass rush. Move the chains and keep the defense off the field.

We all knew this team would go only as far as the offense can take them this year. Give me 400+ yds and 30-some points per game and I like my chances:)

No pass rush, no pass defense.

It is still as important as it always ways. If you do not get Manning, or Rodgers, or Luck off the spot where they are comfortable and disrupt their timing, this secondary is prone to being torched.

I'm all for the defense playing lights out and attacking like a pack of crazed dogs, but there are some truths about this game that have meaning.

Dallas can control the ball with the run.
They can keep their defense off the field as much as possible.
But this team hasn't seen a high powered offense yet. Not the likes of GB or Den.
The first test comes with Arizona. Palmer is 10-2 the last twelve games. He sits in the pocket, he has the skill set to find the open man.

Lawrence could be a difference maker. That is what they are banking on. Or frothing over.

We'll see. I hope he tears it up and gives this defense an edge rusher of note.

If you can't get a rush on P. Manning / Rivers / Rodgers, they are pretty much good for 30+ points.

The Cowboys can match that point production, however, their chances of winning the game go up dramatically if they can make those guys uncomfortable.

There is a lot of talk of how all Denver needed was to make their defense tough and that they are now set.

Their problem wasn't defense in Super Bowl. It was their offense folding like a house of cards.

I want Manning and broncos in Super Bowl.

Getting sacks won't matter vs them. He gets the ball out too quick. We can force him into mistakes. This defense is becoming more and more opportunistic!

The fewest sacks registered by a Super Bowl champion since sacks became officially tracked as a statistic in 1982 is 24 by the 2006 Colts.

The fewest sacks registered by any team in a 16 game schedule is 13 by the Colts in 1981 (who finished 2-14).

The 2014 Cowboys are on pace to register 13.7 sacks for the season.

History would dictate that improving that number is critical to success in the playoffs.

October 22nd... I'm not worrying about a Denver/Dallas matchup in February.

Between injuries and players possibly emerging between now can change things abruptly.

Yeah, who knows? Through happenstance we could end up with a dominant pass rush in a couple of months.

I'd take partial years of those players than full seasons with these.

I daydream about Mincey and Selvie injuries.
