The beauty of this offseason is you shouldn't have to blitz to get consistent pressure. The added bonus is if you do blitz, you can have Hardy (RDE)-Mincey(3T)-Crawford(1T)-Lawrence(LDE) as your DL and Gregory rushing from a LB spot. Whenever Marinelli decides to, he can bring 5 Legitimate pass rushers on any given play.
The only way to beat the top QB's in the game (Rodgers, Brady, Brees, Peyton, etc) is to bring pressure with 4 guys with 7 guys defending.
If you can't bring pressure with 4 guys, they will kill you. As Rodgers did against us in the playoffs. But these guys have seen every blitz in the book and know exactly how to beat it.
You can blitz young, experienced QB's. But when you in the playoffs, you are generally up against the top dogs. And you MUST make them uncomfortable rushing 4 guys. And I think we now have the horses to do that, injuries and suspensions notwithstanding.
When you can rush 4 and still get a tremendous amount of pressure on the QB, you change the game on defense, and you change the scheme of the offense you are facing. You've seen this a lot with the Cowboys over the years, especially in December or in the playoffs. Minnesota took us out of the playoffs rushing four.
This is how this team is going to compete with Green Bay going forward.
And get to the quarterback this year. I always see people blitz on us and get to Romo. With the changes to the front 4 will we be able to finally find success in the blitzing on defense
