will we run any plays that resemble west coast style?

I wonder this because our biggest playmaker thrives in this style, the short dump offs.

I know we have some routs that you would see in the WCO. This is a copy cat league and if certain things work teams will use it.

No.

Next question.

NO? we run some of the same routs as WCO have in their playbook. I agree we are not a WCO but there are some plays that are commonly used in the WCO that we run.

Gotcha. Right now I'm hoping for the continued quietness off the field and production on the field so far so good.

So am I. Very impressed by his demeanor and poise this year. I think Ray Sherman has been great for him.

I think the combination of Phillips, Sherman and Garrett have gone a long way into helping TO develop a sense of trust. I guess we should not leave out Romo as well

Of course they will run some short pass plays that are designed to get yards after catch. Every team does. Every team has done that long before Bill Walsh became a head coach in the NFL. Some more than others.

I understand that and said as much. There are certain routs in the WCO that every team is going to run

T.O. will run the plays that we design to take advantage of our teams strengths and the other teams weaknesses ...... just like everybody else.

Now to answer the REAL question you are trying to ask ..... I believe Garrett will utilize T.O. to his potential .... so do not worry.

The combinations of passing routes run and how many. WRs all run basically the same routes or patterns, but not always in the same combinations. You rarely have 2 guys on a fly pattern. Not even on opposite sides of the field.

The WCO is designed to send receivers into certain designated seams of a defense. Other offenses (like ours) are designed to send receivers into other seams or hot zones. The WCO is more of a pass to set up the run offense, whereas we are a run to set up the pass offense.

Nothing wrong with a WCO at all, we just haven't run it here, nor do we need to. Succesful offense always has been about making the other team pay for where they line guys up. It doesn't matter what label is slapped on it.

LOL... yes he will BUT...Garrett knows that TO is the playmaker, potential gamebreaker...

lets not kid ourselves with the "TO must do what he is told and not upset the applecart"(talk about agenda)

Garrett knows that there are plays that TO has already been very successful with... so he is not going to re-invent the wheel when it comes to TO.

Sure did.

Just emphasizing that I believe TO will be the easiest for us to gameplan... he has a history of success with certain routes/plays.

Yes. I smelled that the instant I opened the thread.

Here are some article clips.

Bradie James tells us that you see Romo working longer hours as new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tries to install a game plan featuring more of a West Coast Offense.
RUSTY: Do we have any idea of what kind of offensive scheme that will be used?
Jean-Jacques Taylor: I'm more interested in the answer to this question than anything about Wade Phillips and the defense, in part, because I know Dallas is going to run the 3-4 in some way, shape or form. Offense is an entirely different question. Garrett learned the timing-based offense from Norv Turner, the West Coast offense from Jon Gruden and a multiple offense from Sean Payton in New York.
Don’t expect a ton of shotgun formations this season from the Cowboys. It is something the fans clamored for in the past, mostly when Drew Bledsoe was the quarterback, but it appears to be a mere part of the package and hardly a major one. Look for new coordinator Jason Garrett’s offense to resemble the Ernie Zampese school of thought more than anything. The offense is likely to be based on timing, with precise routes based on the different depths of the drops, and frequent use of the shotgun would muck that up a bit. Still, that doesn’t mean the team will utilize a true West Coast offense. In fact, most of the receivers — and even the tight ends — are buzzing about the fact that there appear to be a greater number of deep passes in the repertoire. In Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn, the Cowboys have two strong deep-route runners, but spies say not to forget about Patrick Crayton, who could enjoy a nice niche as a breakout player in the new scheme.
FWIW

So... I am confused? Are we running the WCO or not? some of it, a mix....GCO(Garrett Coast Offense) :)
