Many years ago I bought a PC that had Win 98 installed on it, and the clock never seem to be able to keep accurate time. Now I've recently bought a new PC with Win Vista and low and behold this darn bastid won't keep accurate time either.

Anyone have an idea 'bout what the problem is and how do I go about fixing it? Is there a patch that can be downloaded somewhere?

I've considered throwing it off the top of a ten story building but didnt think that would be a viable solution.

Probably your battery in your motherboard.

Could that be true on a brand new PC? I just bought it at Office Depot two weeks ago.

Could be true...would be quite a coincidence that you have had two PCs with the same problem.

The only thing I have ever heard of a clock always losing time on a computer is the battery in the motherboard.

Now I do not know about Windows Vista, but in Win XP there was an option where you could have your clock synced with an online clock. You can set it up to do it on a regular basis.

Once again this is Win XP so it may be different on Vista.

Double click on your time in your bottom right tray.

When that comes up, click on the Internet Time button and you should see how to go about it from there.

Thanks Brain for the internet time sync idea, it's working for me.
