WIP610 Says Eagles Having Issues With Vets, Talked About Traded Andrews

According to WIP610, reports are that there are plenty of veterans that have their feathers ruffled because of their current contract situation with the "Gold Standard" of football operations.

WIP mentioned along with Westbrook, Lito, Sheldon Brown and Shawn Andrews, who was talked amongst the Eagles organization, about trading Andrews after unexcused absence from training camp.

IMO, that is not the way to start of camp with so many distractions going on. Something to keep an eye on and cheer for those good ole' Eagles to suck.

FYI-Andrews was excused from Spring mini camps for "personal reasons". And it was during this time the Eagles experimented with Winston Justice at his RG spot.

This time around, the Eagles find his so-called same "personal reasons" unexcusable.

LOL! Not a way to start off training camp, none the less.

Just found this guys:

Westbrook Is Clearly Angry
Written by Garry Cobb
Friday, 25 July 2008
Brian Westbrook is exuding some of the same type of anger at the Eagles which we saw in 2005 from Terrell Owens.
He hasn't taken things to the extremes which we saw from Owens but things could get worse as the camp continues. He's saying things in the interviews that express his opinion that he's not being treated fairly by the Birds front office.

He's even taken a shot at the agents he interviewed but decided against in favor of Todd France. He says those agents are leaking out negative stories about him.

Westbrook is noticeably unhappy. There's no way someone can be in his presence and not realize that this guy is not a happy camper.

It's sure to affect his teammates and the atmosphere in the locker room.

I think the Eagles have met him half way by making an offer of ten million dollars.

Eagles Considered Trading Andrews
Written by Garry Cobb
Friday, 25 July 2008
Anthony Gargano reported on 610-WIP this afternoon that the Eagles considered trading Shawn Andrews.
Gargano said the Eagles discussed trading Andrews during internal meetings but decided not to because of his tremendous ability. Gargano said the Eagles have been troubled by Andrews getting emotional at times.

Right now they are expecting to talk to his agent tommorow.

Andrews hasn't talked to the Eagles or his agent since he failed to show up for training camp. The Eagles really don't know what the issue is that has prevented Andrews from reporting to camp.

A big part of this is the player agents' fault. The Eagles are notoriously cheap and what the Eagles do is they'll give a player an extension in say their 2nd or 3rd year, when there's plenty of time left in their original contract. So it's a pay raise for the player, but the Eagles are never going to pay them what they are worth down the road and don't have to since the player is locked up to a long term deal. If the player really wants to get paid what he's worth, he should reject these early extensions and wait to negotiate when his contract is almost up. If the Eagles refuse to pay the player what he's worth, then they either have to franchise him or let him hit the FA market. This has been going on for years and agents just don't seem to get it.

Who cares, Dallas needs to keep focused on the business at hand and that's winning a playoff game and marching towards the Superbowl!

Great post! No doubt with your assessment. Doing business the Eagles way can come back to haunt you down the line.

The Eagles will pull it together as they do every year. No matter what people want to say, Reid is a good coach and gets the most from the roster he has. As much as I hate them, I think they will be the team that will give us the most problems this season. They get up for us every time we play them and Jim Johnson's defense usually gives us problems.
