It is real hard to figure out how well we are going to do. Having Gates out when we play SD had got to help. I think we can control LT; it will depend on how much pressure we can get on Brees and how well we cover. With a new system and a lot of young players expected to contribute, it will be inconsistent. Really good one play, really bad another. Turnovers will be a key- our and theirs. We cannot afford to be at minus there. The Skins O will stink; and the Raiders are over rated. After the bolts, the only good O we will see for a while is the Birds- and just how good are they going to be? Realistically the only truly dangerous O on the schedule is KC, and maybe the Rams- depending on how well they are playing. As regards the O, I expect to see JJ get more carries then BP probably wants- unless one of the other guys really shows an ability to produce big.
Bledsoe is going to have to hurt the D on play action to keep them from putting 8 in the box. Before all the injuries and other problems I figured 11-5; now more likely 9-7. BUT if things work out better for us or worse for some of our opponents.....
My real worry right now is Rivera- if that hammy acts up then our right side is back where it was last year- Pettiti needs time to get real good. He also needs a savvy vet beside him to help out. I think the D will be spotty early on but get stronger as the season goes along. Ferguson will do fine; and if that ankle keeps bothering him we should still be ok- though playing more 4-3 using Canty or Ratlif alongside Glover. FS does not worry me too much with all the talent we now have at CB, and as long as we keep Roy up close to the line there will be no problems in the secondary. A few dead WR's laying around the middle of the field will help.
