With more Pro Bowlers than wins, Cowboys have chance to rebound

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas-cowb...lers-than-wins-cowboys-have-chance-to-rebound

...So what does having five Pro Bowlers mean for the Cowboys?

It means they are in a better position to rebound from a 4-12 season than just about any other team that missed the playoffs. Getting named to the Pro Bowl can be a popularity contest at times. Maybe one of the Cowboys’ three Pro Bowl offensive linemen should not have made it, but as soon as you can come up with a list of tackles, centers and guards better than Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin, let me know.

Dan Bailey made 30 of 32 field goals and did not miss a point-after try, so his selection was just. And a case can be made that Lee should have made the team without Houston’s knee injury.

It also means the Cowboys’ coaches should be under scrutiny for what happened in 2015. Without question this team should have won more than four games, even though Tony Romo missed 12 games and Dez Bryant was never really Dez Bryant.

The Cowboys’ roster has talent. It might be top-heavy, like the guy who only bench-presses at the gym and doesn’t work his legs, but there is talent. Depth is an issue for every team in the league, and the Cowboys did not have answers schematically to adjust to their injuries...

I'm glad that this key point was mentioned, because as soon as I read the headline, that was the first thing that stood out to me. More than anything else, I see it as yet another indictment of the coaching that a team with this much talent only managed to win 4 games.

Reeks of the 2012 Eagles. That roster was as every bit of the 10-6 team it was the following year, but the coaching was the worst I've ever seen.

David Blatte got fired with 33-11 record and a finals appearance the year before. We're settlers without a doubt in my mind. I'll go work the land now :(

Kevin Mchale got tossed also... He made the final 4

Stasheroo, I was thinking the same thing. Jason has no excuse. This team had a decent defense and talent.

The Houston Texans won a division with a solid defense, below average QB and a weak division which was kind of similar to our division.

Thus I have a hard to time understanding why Jason was kept.

Not so fast on team defense there. In three seasons, the team had one of the all time NFL worst defenses as well as one of the all time worst NFL turnover producing defenses.

The tire hits the road next year no matter what.

We either make the playoffs and make a run or a new coach will be in Dallas. 10-6 with no playoffs just doesn't save his job nor does a first round loss in my opinion.

It's amazing that it even seems to infect previously top players once they get here too.

I sure hope so. That's what accountability is all about. You can't expect it of others if you don't practice it yourself.

I agree with dandydon1722 I think 2016 is his last year if he don't make the playoffs and even if he does and is one done still may not save his job.

I think Jerry has become a Settler.. He's settling for cable (Garrett) over DirectTv.. 42-42 record in 5 years is just not good enough.

settling? he has it just like he wants it, it's ALL about the Benjamin's

but, I agree with the title of the OP...and that this team is better suited than most other non-playoff teams to turn it around in 2016....

It all comes down to the offense, the defense kept scores down for the most part and repeatedly placed the ball in the offenses hands, only to see three and outs. If we make some changes in the looks we offer, especially on short yardage, and don't bank the season on Romo playing more than half the games, we can make the play-offs.
