Wittens Streak Broken

The last time Witten didn’t catch a pass in game was Nov. 2, 2008 against the Giants. So, he had an impressive run.

“Those records really don’t mean anything,” Witten told reporters after the game. “I still have a lot of confidence in my ability and feel I can play at a high level. A big part of that is making catches but it’s just one of those games. Those things happen. You go through it. It’s not on one particular situation. That’s just the way the game went.

“I’m thankful and excited to be 11-1, much more than having a catch.”

I remember noticing Witten grimacing a few times during the Skins game and even taking himself out for some plays, which he rarely does.

I wonder if like a lot of guys he's just working through some unpublicized injury. His body has logged a lot of collisions over his long NFL career so I'm sure he'll be grateful for the 10 days off.

1 target for Witten and 2 for Beasley isn't going to cut it.

We attempted 18 passes. Not a lot of catches -- or targets -- to go around in that scenario.

Ugly win, but I think the game manager approach was sound given how today's game was going. In my opinion, it was the kind of game where an interception would have proven a lot more costly than a big play would have proven beneficial.

Usually, I wouldn't feel that way. But this was low scoring and the ball was bouncing Minnesota's way. It felt like we were going to find a way to lose the whole evening. Glad this one's behind us.

Only 12 completions this game. Not a lot to spread around in the numbers crunch unfortunately. Still, that's another impressive streak he was on that sadly ended.

Something that just epitomizes this guy that I noticed. He didn't contribute much on the stat sheet and saw an impressive streak snapped, but he was the one hyping the huddle up for the kneel down. A lot of players wouldn't be thrilled with his line and the streak being snapped, but he was hyped about the win above all else. A true pleasure to root for.

I suspect Dak would have gone Witten's way more if it was there. Witten had a pretty modest game (for him) on Thanksgiving (3 catches, 33 yards). Again, I'm not sure he's been quite himself health-wise, but he's a warrior.

Witten is a bad man....clutch. 'Boys trying to get him to the promise land. Most accomplished TE in Cowboy History, but he wants what Novacek and Billy Joe Dupree got.
