Wonder how Suisam feels?

We cut a guy who had yet to miss a FG and might have turned out to be good for a guy who is routinely inconsistent. I bet Suisam was either grinding his teeth in frustration or engaging in some schadenfreude at the Cowboys' expense. Probably a little of both...

I thought of that the second he missed that FG. Then I thought about this and another board I frequent and thought, man, they will be covered with 'Cundiff sucks' and 'OMG the kicker position.....' titled threads.

I dont give a rats behind whos kicking so long as they make the ones their supposed to and make about half of more of the ones they're not supposed to. Just give me a solid kicker, I dont care what his name is, what color he is, where hes from or anything about the dude. I just want a kicker that will kick and make a 33 yd FG every day of the week all the time.

Do you think that Suisman would have hit that 56 yarder last week?. I Don't.

no, but the 56 yd fg really had no impact on the outcome of that game either

you just cant miss 33 yd fg's in perfect conditions with huge games on the line

Cundiff is inconsistent, period! He always has been and he always will be.

Personally I prefer a guy who may not have the leg to hit a 50-55 yarder but he's absolute $$ in the bank from 40 yards in. The vast, vast majority of kicks are from that distance and that is where the games are won and lost.

Also, his kick-offs aren't consistently any better than Suisam's and I will be glad when we never see Cundiff's face again in a Cowboy helmet.

Even though he screwed the pooch on the fg. I believe it was the right decision to bring him back.

How many FGs did Cundiff miss from 40 yards in last season?

Come on Cap. The shortest I seen Cundiff kick it yesterday was to the 7 yd line and consistently hovering around the 5. Suisham was consistently at the 10-12 yd line. Significant difference. That being said, that little pr*** better start making those fgs or get the hell out of dodge.

I'm tired of hearing about how great Cundiff is at kicking off. The fact is, he's been kicking off about the same as the rookie we cut for him. Let's look at yesterday's game against Denver:

3-B.Cundiff kicks 63 yards from DAL 30 to DEN 7. 45-R.Alexander to DEN 28 for 21 yards (31-R.Williams). Return left side of the field.

3-B.Cundiff kicks 63 yards from DAL 30 to DEN 7. 45-R.Alexander to DEN 16 for 9 yards (29-K.Davis). Return middle.

3-B.Cundiff kicks 60 yards from DAL 30 to DEN 10. 45-R.Alexander to DEN 30 for 20 yards (20-W.Pile). Return middle.

3-B.Cundiff kicks 69 yards from DAL 30 to DEN 1. 45-R.Alexander to DEN 24 for 23 yards (18-T.Copper; 29-K.Davis). Return middle.

Average: 63.75

Suisham's kickoffs vs. Philly

4-S.Suisham kicks 57 yards from DAL 30 to PHI 13. 29-R.Hood to PHI 28 for 15 yards (29-K.Davis, 55-R.Fowler).

4-S.Suisham kicks 68 yards from DAL 30 to PHI 2. 29-R.Hood to PHI 23 for 21 yards (29-K.Davis).

4-S.Suisham kicks 60 yards from DAL 30 to PHI 10. 29-R.Hood to PHI 35 for 25 yards (55-R.Fowler).

4-S.Suisham kicks 68 yards from DAL 30 to PHI 2. 29-R.Hood to PHI 30 for 28 yards (33-N.Jones).

Average: 63.25

Wow, Cundiff averages half a yard more than Suisham per kickoff. Yeah, I see why you would say Cundiff kicks off so much better.

And yeah, Suisham makes the chipshot yesterday. Too bad we gave him a pink slip.

I am not a cundiff fan. In fact I complained about him all off-season. The only time I rooted for him to win the job was when they brought Cortez in (I still can't believe they did that) because I knew what Cortez brings to the table. Actually he dribbles it on the floor trying to get it to the table.

Suisham? We really don't know about the guy. The two he made were under 30 yards. He may or may not have made the kick yesterday. Nobody knows.

So, right now, I guess we're stuck with Cundiff. I hold my breath everytime he lines up for anything over 40 yards, but I don't think there is anyone clearly better out there who's available. I really thought he would make the short kick yesterday and it burned my butt that he didn't. Anyway, I hope we get a solid. reliable kicker next year unless Cundiff is near perfect the rest of the way.

The Cards were very smart in locking up Rackers with a contract extension like they did. He may turn out to be a one year wonder, but it sure doesn't look like it.

Cundiff makes me mad, but he's usually very accurate inside 40 yards, yesterday was unnatural for him, but still, just a case in point on how unreliable Cundiff is

Were we not, all year last year , calling for Cundiffs head. As soon as he missed that FG yesterday, I said " We're done". I think the rook would have made the kick1

Suisham is probably just glad he got out before he got the same disease every other Cowboys kicker seems to get.
