Would anyone be opposed to Chris McAllister as a Cowboy?

I believe he is available. He's a punk. But maybe he's learned something from his last few years in Baltimore. I was initially opposed to this idea but now I think I would be ok with it. He doesn't have a ton left, but definitely two solid seasons. I think he would feast with our pass rush.

He's a better option than Pacman

What did he do to be in the "punk" category?

I think he would be an adequate acquistion, but the Cowboys wouldn't pick him up until after the first regular season game. If the cowboys don't sign him, they might pick someone up after the first game like R W McQuarters as a defensive back and punt returner too.

not really sure what his injury situation is, nobody else has apparently made an effort to bring him in either...he hasnt played half the games the last two seasons.

here you go dbair;
McAlister, 31, was coming off season-ending injuries the past two seasons. This year he suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the final 10 games and Baltimore's postseason run to the AFC Championship Game.

McAlister was a former first-round pick of the Ravens (No. 10 overall) in 1999 and has 26 career interceptions.

He is close to 100% as healthy as he can be at this point of his career anyway. He had to have surgery on his knee and is actually shopping himself for a team pretty soon.

I would guess that he either wants to go to a contender or a California team since he was born and raised there, or Arizona since he played college ball there.

I've been hoping we'd pick up a vet CB since last season ended.

Let's see what JJ does.

I think the cowboys will pick up a vet after the 1st regular season so they dont have to pay him a full length contract. In fact, due to some of the play on special teams and now mike hamlin hurt, with ball. I think the cowboys might resign keith davis after the first regular season game.

McAllister's knee is shot, and has lost two steps, if we sign anyone, and that depends on Alan Ball's health, Mcquarters would be a better option but that won't happen until after week one of the season

Put me in this boat. I live in the area and the guy has went downhill the last few seasons. He MAY have 1 season left in the tank, but I wouldn't bank on it.

I am totally on board, but I am a homer on this. I know Chris, and think he's a really good guy. At one time we even talked about him being a Dallas Cowboy. Then B-more franchised him. He's a proud guy who probably thinks he is still a starter. I don't think he is. If he'd play for a nominal amount and accept his role it could be a great move. Very smart football player who credits Dennis Thurman with teaching him a lot.

I would rather see Newman, Scandrick and Jenkins get the playing time. I think there are other areas that I would look to add to the team but I would not take time away from our present and future CB's. We did not bring them to Dallas to sit

I agree, but McAllister wouldn't be brought in to start (or even play nickel, for that matter). He would be an insurance policy and a dime CB. I wouldn't be opposed considering the level of suck we've seen from the kids, so far.

If and I think that is a big if McAllister looking to catch on as a backup at a low price great but I think he will get some offers better than what I would be willing to give. I think if Dallas wants to invest outside there are other areas such as depth along the Oline that still could be addressed after final cuts are made.

His truck would certainly fit in Texas.

Baltimore Ravens Chris McAlister Really Pimped His Ride…Or Rig

Sunday, August 5th, 2007 by SportsWrap

The new SportsRumblings Blog is only two posts old, but already has a gem about the Ravens’ Chris McAlister who showed up to mini-camp is a truly pimped out truck. McAlister has an enormous, chromed-out Ford F-650:

This one isn’t McAlister - but gives you an idea of how massive these things are (oh yeah - this one costs $94,000):

f650-supertruck-xuv.jpg

According to LuxuryLaunches, “There are 5 different models of the Ford F650 available, with seating for 4 to 12 (in seatbelts!). The Ford F650 gets 17mpg at a 70mph cruising speed! It’s got a 37-degree greater turning radius than a light-duty pickup truck. This huge vehicle comes with 300HP Caterpillar with 900 lbs of torque.”

Why not just modify the back of that truck? That looks stupid.

He will sign on somewhere in the next couple of weeks.

He may not initially start, but he is still a great player when healthy.
