I'm not saying that he is not talented. If no one else is going to draft him tell mid second. Then he's not first round talent.

That and hes small, goes down easily once gotten to, and doesn't play up to his timed speed. People act like hes Emmitt part deux and hes not.

Most overrated prospect this year so far.

Anyone want to make a sig bet hes not picked int he first round?

Well I guess that comes down to personal opinion. The draft is filled with backs. Some better some worse. But whose to say he wont fall tell late second?

Exactly. The only people whose opinions matter for shiite are employed by NFL teams...not some wannabes with blogs, you, or I. He could be a first. He could be a third. We'll find out in a few weeks.

Edit: I see TEUFILLII has cleared this issue up. I guess it's settled then.

If you believe what you hear we'll be taking Felix Jones.

I'd wait till round 2 and take Smith or Rice one should be there.

You figure McFadden, Mendenhall, Stewart and Jones in the first Charles and Johnson at the 1st of the 2nd round. That's 6 backs how many teams need backs bad enough to take a back in the first two rounds?

Tampa, Chicago, Houston, Detroit and Cincy need RB's, Jets or Raiders will take McFadden.

Case could be argued that Carolina would take a back....

With the depth at RB I just can't believe both of those guys are gone.

Maybe we should trade both ones and Barber to make sure we get Rice. Somone might take him if we don't have the number one pick.

I wouldn't bet on that. I doubt he goes in the first round because there aren't many teams at the later end of the 1st looking for a RB. The Packers are a possibility. But that's only if none of the corners they like are still on the board. Obviously we're a possibility, but there's a decent enough chance we take a RB at 22. Other than that, there's not too many teams in the late 1st that I could see taking any RB, regardless of who it is.

But if we do take a RB at 28 and the Packers take a RB with their pick, I'd bet he's one of those two picks.

in as much as I question your intelligence, I don't think even you would believe that Rice goes in the 1st round

I'm just not into picking back-ups in the first or second round.

I like Rice, but drafting for depth has hurt us before.

Thats not exactly a gutsy bet. It doesn't look like any teams have him graded as a 1st round player so betting he won't get picked isn't exactly putting yourself out there.

That said, I'll take the bet. Not because I think he will be picked 1st round but because I want a sig. I've made my own but they are all removed for whatever reason. One was too big, I'll take that but the other one just disappeared for no reason.

So please do, craft me up something nice.

Yeah, I've noticed he does a lot around here. I like to try and do my own but like I said, they've been removed. One was too big and the other Im not sure about.

Not really too worried about it.

There are a lot of players that some "expert" said was a first rd talent that do not get picked untill the second day.
Drafting a RB in the first is just plain dumb unless one of the top 3 fall to us.
We can get what we want in the second or even third rd.

I know a lot of people have him as a guy to take in the 2nd round but would anyone be pissed if he was taken at #28 providing that one of the top corners was taken @ #22. I'm not sure he will be there when Dallas picks in the 2nd and I would rather "reach" (if thats what you wanna call it) for a back like Rice then take a part timer who is rated as the right value @ #22.

I ask because I really wouldn't have a problem with taking him there. Hes a complete back, not just a guy who is viewed as a compliment. He could carry the load if needed and I think getting a guy who could do that would be a better option for the long haul.

I was watching his highlight over at the Falcons website and one thing I noticed about him was that he was really low-key. Never showboating. When he scored, he handed or flipped the ball to the nearest official and then went to celebrate with his team.

Character is one thing that you can never have too much of.

While I would like to get him in the 2nd round, I don't think he will be there and as such, I really wouldn't have a problem with taking him at #28 if CB is addressed at #22.

Thoughts?

To be honest, I would be. I have him rated as the 5th best back in the draft and to pass up C.Johnson, who could be a carry-the-load type of back, in my opinion is not a smart move. With that pick you want the best possible player at the position and C.Johnson and J.Charles both are better picks. And b4 anyone starts ranting about J.Charles I watched him at the skills competition on ESPN and he has phenomenal hands. His speed is right behind CJ and DMac's. JM2C. :)

Just cuz you think he's not 1st round talent doesn't mean it's true. IMO he's the 2nd best RB in this draft. EXTREMELY underrated.

WHAT????You have got to be kidding! Right? 2nd best ahead of Mendenhall, Stewart, C.Johnson? Really? Wow!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Big East guy and I've seen Rice play more than most......he is a solid, safe, no nonsense pick. However, I see him as having a good a chance at being drafted early in the 3rd round before I do late in the1st. (He prolly end up mid to late 2nd) and be a very good back for someone...

I'm not knocking the guy, I actually really like him, just being realistic.

I agree...thats what I think Sarge

I actually believe if we dont do anything he'll be there for us with our 2nd rd pick...and I think he's a solid pick in that area

or, if they really like him and they dont do soemthing at RB earlier, they could move up a few spots from their 2nd rd pick to insure they get him if they are worried about soemone else snagging him before us (perhaps after a big run on RB's)
