Would Bennett have been a 1st rounder?

Would Marty B been a 1st round pick this year. Looks like a weak TE class compared to last year.

If he had gone to Miami Hurricanes (which he could have) he would have been, no doubt in mind.

Yeah, cause they would have actually thown the ball to him.

No. In fact, I'm not certain that he would have been one of the top three TEs in this draft. A world of talent, no question, but the maturity level of one of my kids.

not unless he was a dynamic pass-receiver, which he wasn't in college, and isn't right now

I would imagine it would have depended on his season at A&M .

They didn't really light it up so I'm guessing he would not have been a first rounder.

I can't speak to this years TE class. But it's hard to imagine someone that raw being a first round pick. The talent is there but it needs polished. Those guys rarely go in round one.

Glenn Dorsey did a pre-draft special where he dressed up and acted like Forrest Gump, no one said he was immature because he was dominating dudes in college.

Bennett likes to joke around, and as far as we know, he said nothing outrageous at the interviews.

Meanwhile Spencer had no maturity concerns, fast forward two years and he's going crazy at a club. So I don't think maturity had much of anything to do with why he wasn't a first rounder. The fact that he wasn't very well developed meant far more.

he actually caught alot of passes in a run oriented, option type attack. I think his JR yr he had almost 50 receptions...people seem to forget that

last yr i heard more then a few scouts say if he had waited another yr he wouldve been a 1st rounder.

even when we got him in the draft he was being touted as 1st rd talent in the draft. s o i wouldnt be suprised if he was especially with this weak TE draft class.

everyone knows he wasnt in a pass heavy system but that didnt stop people last yr from saying he had 1st rd potential and us taking him early in the 2nd. and we took him 2nd last yr. he was more raw and wouldve been even better with another year at tech

yeah, but he wasn't a dynamic pass-receiver

put him in Missouri, or a spread attack, and he probably could have been a 1st rounder

The book on Bennett was his maturity level coming out. That's why lots of teams had him lower on their boards.

IMO, their is very little chance he would have been a 1st round pick this year.
