Would good Murray have helped us today?

I have, but we screwed the pooch not getting anybody. Our RB's are just average. In fact now I think Dunbar might be our best back which is crazy!

Randle looked great today. 3 touchdowns and your complaining? Really? If we had a QB that would challenge the defense down field they wouldnt have problems with stacked boxes. If we werent missing Dez we wouldnt be dealing with 11 in the box. Its all relative. If this team was healthy today, we would have blown them out badly

I thought he played well, but still not that impressed. He's a complimentary back, so if we grade him on today he played great. My point is we need beef and a thumper! We will probably have to wait until next year it appears.

They played the second half with a desperation and determination that I don't think we would've matched even with a healthy Romo.

Sometimes you have to give the other team credit. Their better than us.

I don't want to make this about whether Murray should/should not be here. I do know that for a team that wants to be physical...we don't have a physical RB. That#24 for the Falcons was a 4th round pick....so I don't care that you chose not to re-sign Murray....but I do care that you think you can hammer a team with a q-tip. Our RBs are all the same guy....they will never wear out a defense...like #24 wore us out

Pretty much this. A grinding RB carried a bad defense last season and helped our O line. We simply don't have that type of player this season and it's showing.

Yes Murray would've helped. I love Randle and McFadden, but it's clear when their aren't giant holes in front of them they won't get you more than two or three yards. Murray could make his own holes and get 10 just with his sheer will, determination, and ability to break tackles. Arm tackles, leg tackles, even when teams were able to square up on him he would often break free.

People forget DeMarco was a productive back well before we built this "dominant" offensive line. He had just under 1,000 yards rushing in 2011 before breaking his ankle and didn't really start until mid season. He missed six games in 2012 which prevented him from having a big year. In 2013 he was really just as good as last year just with far less opportunities.

If he could play on the Dline, then maybe. He can't even help his current team.

Defense is better off this season than last or the very least equal. Atlanta ground it out with Freeman, like we used to do with Murray.

Murray wouldn't have helped today. He would've helped as much as he did when we faced Arizona.

Atlanta's defense is no where near what AZ had last season. Their front defensive line is undersized. A punishing runner would have helped hold a pretty good lead. Much like Atlanta's RB punished our defense into submission.

We had a lead. Our defense couldn't make a stop and they took advantage of our DEs inability to play the run consistently which opened the pass. Offense put up 28. They did their part. Having Murray in the lineup wouldn't have made any difference.

You have to run to close out a game like today. How many yards did our RBC have in the second half of todays game? You can't leave your defense on the field for 90% of a half and win.

Your defense can also make some stops in the second half and if Murray were that good he would've had more than one good season. For all I know he fumbles it when the chance to break away presents itself.

Murray was always at least good. Look it up. Injuries were his biggest problem. But he produced when we didn't have a o line to speak of.
That can't be denied.

Just like he's producing with a lack of a line now. He can thank Dez and Romo for keeping the 8 man out of the box because we know how he is when 8 is in there. I guess our defense being ran on was due to Freeman than our DEs inability to stop the run. You had Lawrence and Russell who got ran over most if the game and with that playing out as it did it still was going to make for a long day for our defense since it set up their PA pass. On top of that we would barely touch Jones who broke free countless times at the snap. Our problems weren't in the running game, our issues were on defense this time around and if they can't make stops they'll continue to see 6-7 minute drives when they step on the field.

I'll just disagree and move on.

Yes, but screw Murray. Randle is great in space but awful in congestion. Murray was very patient with the same OL and would turn these plays into 2-3 yards. Randle loses 3-4.

Your selective memory is a bit nauseating.
And I'm not sure you understand what's happening during a play in it's totality, as in what all 11 players are doing to affect the play's success.
I added the second half of that sentence "just in case".

You post like a dude who just watches the ball.
I could be wrong... I'm sure I'll read a post from you in the next few hours/days that will make me reconsider my words.

So true. All the Randle's run in the second half were for negative yards when the Falcon's defense adjusted.

Difference between Randle and Murray is when there is nothing, Murray would just lower his head and plow for 3 yards. Randle just stops and gets tackled for a loss.
