I was just thinking about this earlier. Imagine the having Ware and Merriman on the same field opposite of each other. From any early indications, that would've been one of the most dominating duos in the history of the league. I cannot imagine how good this defense/team could have been if it had pulled something like that off.
Now how possible would that have been? The Cowboys that year drafted at #11 and #20. Ware was the early pick and Spears was the next one. San Diego got Merriman at #12. It seems it would've been very much worth it to trade away a few picks to move up and get both, but I guess hindsight is very convenient.
So close...so close...
Instead in the second round we got Kevin Burnett... now I don't think it is too crazy to have traded away that second rounder that year and another later pick or even a pick the next year. For Demarcus Ware and Shawn Merriman...come on no way you can beat that.
