Hypothetical question here. Andrew Luck will be a free agent next year. If he doesn't agree to an extension this season, he'll probably get the franchise tag. If I was Luck, I wouldn't be in a rush to sign just yet. The Colts seriously need to protect him better.. which is something the COWBOYS can do.

Assuming he gets the tag, would you pay two 1st round picks for him + the highest salary for QBs? There are teams who spend several years worth of consecutive draft picks on a QB. Then there are teams who are stuck in a cycle of drafting a QB every 3-4 years.

He's not a free agent until 2021 but his contract goes from 9.3 mm to $18 mm next year. Dolphins can opt out after this year.

Feel free to hold your breath waiting for a HoF QB to fall from the sky, but if Tannehill is what you consider laughable QB play I've got some crushing news for your post-Romo years as a fan. QBs who put up 90%+ efficiency rating immediately and never fell below that are not the norm. Over the last 20 years, the list is 3 guys long.

The only thing more valuable than first round picks is franchise quarterbacks under 30. Luck is the quintessential getting it right. I would give up so many picks for Luck.

The Jones's would do this in a second if they could, but it will never happen. Every team would do this.
