Would you have made the trade the Browns did?

Not the first one, where they traded their 2nd rd. pick for Corey Williams. They figured there would not be a DL available at the #58 pick as good as Williams, and I agree.
However, they then traded their third round pick, #87 overall, & CB Leigh Bodden, to the Lions for DT Shaun Rogers. This is the trade I'm asking about. Would you have made that trade if you were Jerry Jones, and had the opportunity?

Rogers is a 2-time Pro-Bowler, & one of the most dominating DTs in the league-when he wants to be. However, he has had his share of problems w/the Lions' admin., which is why he went for what he did.

Bodden is a solid CB. He has had some injury issues the past two seasons, but when healthy, he is solid both against the run & pass.

The Cowboys could definately use a force like Rogers in the middle-especially with Fergi going to Miami. That would free Jay Ratliff to move over to DE, which is a more natural position for him. Tank Johnson would remain the backup.

Bottom line: With all of his talent, and all of his baggage, would Shaun Rogers have been worth our 3rd rd. pick & Nathan Jones?

No and I say no only because I have zero faith that Rogers will show up and play 100% for more than 2-3 games a year.

You mean for 2-3 plays in a row

Are you comparing Bodden to Nate Jones? I don't really see them as equals talentwise. I would consider that trade, but not if it were Newman or Henry instead.

No, I prefer we only draft and sign guys who are "football players" first and foremost. Not guys who want to play when they feel like playing.

Bodden is an awesome corner, more comparable to Newman than Jones. I think Detroit made out better with that trade.

No, I prefer to trade/draft players that can go more than 3 plays without sucking wind.:laugh1:

The Browns appear to be the new Commanders. I'm sure the strategy will work out just as well for them.

The Browns are fools. They could have had NT Fergie from the Cowboys for a 5th rd pick. They gave up a 3rd and Bodden for Rogers who very well may have been cut during camp this year.

I would have traded our NT Fergie for CB Bodden.

I would have drated Rogers as a rookie but I wouldn't have traded for him now. We are pretty set at NT with Rat and Tank and you never know when Rogers is going to want to play. Bodden would make an excellent 3rd cb, he's way better than the depth guys we had last season.

Isn't Cleveland primarily a 3-4 defensive team? I understand having good players on a team, creating depth and all, but to have one of these guys as a backup seems like overkill. Unless of course, they are going more 4-3.

That would really have been a trade I would have loved.
