Would you rather have star team or complete team?

after watching last night it's obvious that there is no quality depth on this team aside from RB and OG.

Now if everyone stays healthy then Dallas has a great chance to compete for a title.

However if anyone goes down at just about any position there will be a huge drop off.

What's made NE and GB great for last 10 years is having suitable backups when people get hurt even though they may not have had same talent Dallas has across starting 22.

Which model is better to you?

New England has a top 5 all time QB and Green Bay went from one sure HoFer to another at QB. What is the model? You have to have stars and depth.

But NE doesn't have a Dez or a great OLine. Not that those aren't important but they've sacrificed having the best at each starting glamour position to have a more well rounded team.

Where JJ has missed so far is going for 3 stud RBs and 4 pro bowl linemen instead of maybe using some of those resources at other positions.

He's playing true to his gambler form back when he was in oil that everyone will stay healthy and then Dallas will just roll everyone a lot like we saw in 2014. The only issue is its a boom or bust deal

There were a lot of guys not playing last night to be fair.

The defense was just a mixing and matching of players again. Durant and collins playing for the first time.

Im not sure how to view the defense because there are so many guys hurt and so many guys not playing. I don't know what the roles for guys are at this moment. Its probably going to take awhile to get an understanding of the defense.

The offensive line lacks depth, but again last night leary didn't play which changes things.

The issue is who are the active players each week. I bet the defense has a lot of changes in this department from week to week and the offense is pretty set in stone except for the final wr spot.

I'll take stars, depth is overrated. GB wins because of great talent on offense, not depth. New England wins because Bill is a mastermind, not depth.

The 1995 team won because Emmitt was the best back that year, Michael was probably the best receiver that year, and Aikman was a top 5 QB that year, depth is something the media uses to try an show how smart they are.

We're deep across the board on offense.

I didn't notice depth being a particular problem on defense, either. We've got positions where we lack starting-quality players, so DEs and Ss aren't going to look great and their backups are worse. But even on defense, for the most part, the guys we've got backing up starters aren't all that much worse than the starters. It's that the starters aren't better.

It also hurts depth with so many DLs held out right now. That's going to make things look confusing across the board.

But those were two pretty good teams out there last night.

Stars on offense.
Complete team on defense.
We have 1 of 2. Our defense is really bad. DL is weak and inexperienced...nothing at DE. Small, poor LBs. Sad

Their TE will retire as the greatest offensive TE of all time. Revis, Moss, welker wilfork mayo talib. They built a team over time. Dallas started doing things right just a few years ago. They arent making a choice to be thin on d.

I don't get this. From what I saw, Dallas' DL was every bit as disruptive as Seattle's.

There was penetration, disrupted plays and good run support. 1st team, or what was out there as first team.

We don't need sacks every play. It's fun to watch but completely unrealistic. JMO, of course.

What has made New England great is not their model, which has changed often over the years depending on team needs. What has made New England great is the star HC and a FO that supports his vision and tinkering.

Brady, Belichick and Kraft have been the only constants in Pats over decade of dominance.

Difference of opinion...I didn't see anyone disruptive at DE, and no one who can finish.

Forget sacks for a moment then, how many times was a Seattle QB brought to the ground, or even touched?

We aren't talking Payton Manning here...... Wilson is very mobile.

Same can be said about Boykin and the other Seattle QB too. But all have been sacked before, just not by anyone on this Cowboys dline. Good front 7's still have to be able to hit/sack QBs, even the mobile ones.
