Would You Trade #4 for Aaron Donald?

Basically the title says it all. That's straight up. Not Aaron Donald plus a pick. In fact, maybe we'd have to include a minor player like Hitchens or Leary. St Louis gets a QB and they're a strong contender for many years.

I figure such a trade would have to be with a QB needy team, so maybe these also fit but might include an additional pick for us...

  • St Louis for Robert Quinn
  • NY Jets for Mo Wilkerson (assuming he's franchised)
  • NY Jets for Sheldon Richardson
  • NY Jets for last year's 6th pick Leonard Williams
  • Buffalo for Marcell Dareus
  • Denver for Von Miller (assuming he's franchised; Osweiller seemed to not work out)

I want a star defensive lineman. I doubt Bosa makes it to us and I'm not crazy about spending 4th overall on a LDE even if he was. After him, the risk is too high on the DLine.

Why would they trade Donald? How about the #4 pick for lets say. Andrew Luck? That would be a better trade for us. ;)

I would trade for Donald right now. With him, you have a very young proven player (All Pro). I would be extremely lucky to get close to that in this draft.

As much as I want a QB at that #4 pick, I probably take Donald. I really, really wanted him when he came out and he has lived up to my expectations and then some since. None of the other choices entice me, but Donald does.

Luckily, that scenario won't ever happen and the temptation will never manifest itself if the Jones gang feels the same way I do. We need a QB for the future badly.

Tough call. It takes away most of the uncertainty of a draft pick, but only two years remain on his rookie contract. I guess I'd do it: the odds of drafting a player of his quality, even with the #4 pick, simply aren't that high. Of course, STL would never do it, for the same reason.

Even if they lost Donald, they'd still have a deep DL as well as a number of other good pieces on defense. On offense they have Gurley, some good complementary WRs and a good young OL. Everybody's young. Really they just have a gaping hole at QB and a true #1 WR. They'd be keeping their 1st (15) where they could probably still pick up a DT. Not a Donald, but a good DT.

We need a QB, but we could possibly push it off a year for the right deal or tackle it in RD2.

Donald had 11 sacks. He's more than sacks but he's not irreplaceable for St Louis.

The game is won and lost on the line of scrimmage. Those are two places (OL/DL) I do not trade away real talent.

Actually, I would say he is their most irreplaceable player.

Absolutely a great, great player. It's why I want him. But I'm not sure there's ever been a DT in the game that was irreplaceable if it meant picking up a blue chip QB prospect. I'm looking at the HoF list and Bob Lilly might be the only one.

In a heartbeat. A proven commodity and a guy I saw as a very rare talent, who is now proven at the NFL level as well. We could ace the pick at number four and still not get a player near Donald's ability.

Plus 2 years and an option year left on his rookie deal

Aaron Donald >>>>> 2016 NFL #4 draft pick

Donald is top 5 inthe NFL at his position right now, that is something the Cowboys would hope for the #4 draft pick to pan out to be...

Don't get me wrong, Aaron Donald is better than Tyrone Crawford, but if I dealt #4 for a veteran, I would not want to for a 3tech

I would in a heartbeat. He is a young, guaranteed stud.

That being said, there's no way that would happen. He's the Rams best player, by a long shot. He's the type of guy you build around, not trade away.

If Aaron Donald was available in the upcoming draft and you knew everything you know now about him, you wouldn't consider him with the fourth pick? Even if you knew he was going to be a dominant player?
