Keep Blinking??? Why is it a bad question??? Obviously it would never happen, but you never know your options with draft picks and players. I guess if it he was a FA we would take a look??? People here get all bent on posts, I blink at that....
You honestly do not know why? That isn't a joke?

Heck no. This teams needs to use that pick to get a younger player.Even if ole Ed decided not the retire this time around there is no guarantee that he won't have the same thought this time next year.

More that Reed would be needed, agree on that....just posted a thought thats all. Didnt mean to create such drama.....

OL, Safety, K among the needs....sure we need some fixing, more than 1 HOF, but in the win now mode, I just threw it out there....

Ed Reed All Pro safety, amazing ball hawk, 31 years old, at least 3-4 yrs left in tank. While I doubt Balt would deal him, maybe a #1 would be to enticing for them, maybe to expensive for us...Its absolutely mortgaging the future, selling out for the NOW....His 50-50 retire stuff may be real, you would have to clear that up....But would you???? Before everyone says not to dealing a #1, how bout we make it a future #1, or this years #27 overall.....Reed for a #1, going for it NOW????

Let the hammering begin....

Hypothetically speaking there aren't Safeties in the upcoming Draft we can take in the first round and get them cheaper and for longer?

We might even get one who is a ball hawk. To his level? No, but is he even at his level any more? It's worth a #1 for 1 year? Two? If he's contemplating retirement right now, do you honestly believe he's going to play 3 to 4 more years?

Come on.

Hey check me out in the draft forum, I got us getting my sig and Iupati. I want some mean OL.

But our safeties have been a problem for years, and Ed Reed when healthy had us drooling. Its an interesting hypothetical.

But w/o the 1st for OL I still dont think that would put us over the top

Has there been multiple responses that aren't incredulous to the idea? Do you see support in the responses?

Ought to turn on a light above your head.

I am sorry to be so blunt in my responses, but damn man. It frustrates me to even see stuff like this get asked.

Beat me by this much.

On another note.

How long did it take this franchise to recover from the Galloway deal?

You know that song, "They're Coming to Take Me Away?"

I think about it a lot in these threads. Not for the posters, but for me. It drives me crazy when people ask this kind of stuff. It's like they don't bother to even read about the NFL and just have a brilliant flash of inspiration (also known as a duh moment in some cases) and they fire away. Meanwhile my head starts to hurt and the room spins.

Call the men in the white coats, I'm off the reservation again.

Ed Reed in his prime? Absolutely.

Ed Reed at 32 and contemplating coming back to the game? Not so much.

He strikes me as the type to retire early instead of spending a life nursing injuries.

Sometimes Cowboy fans show that it doesn't take a mental giant to start a thread.

i'd love to collectively find a way to get us *all* to just ignore things like this. but sadly, something stupid being said always draws more of a crowd than intelligence.

which is a huge reason why the media does it i'm sure.

Its going to be a real long off-season:rolleyes:

hot topics of the 2010 off season.
1. Drafting an OLine. Really? I mean really? I've not been happy with our OL since bledsoe was here. i think it came a bit further in the years since then but i also think a mobile romo hid how bad they were getting. glad to see people catch up. : )
2. Trading Barber. This should have been #1 but i really didn't want to push it that hard. Barber has become the latest player we've just got to trade so i can see "McFadden" type debates and threads over this in the offseason.
3. Roy Williams. Jones should create a new house rule. 0-2 on any player name you never take a player under that name again. While I personally still have hope Roy will get it, I also realize i'm a silly dreamer dreaming silly things. like barber, his pricetag and lack of production will make the "realist" angry all off-season. and they'll let us know daily.
4. Jones sucks and needs to hire a real GM. ok, i cheated here because as long as Jones is here this will be a higher than average topic.
5. Garret/Wade. I'm going to lump the coaches in together to make up for my cherry picking in #4. Garrett went from the hottest up and coming coach, to tecmo bowl, to the hottest coach, to a goat. reality or fickle fans?

anyway - i think i just summed up the bulk of the next 3 months+ of conversation on here.

Now I know what it feels like to be a Raiders fan?

You don't give up first round picks for 32 year old guys who are contemplating retirement from injury.

You just don't.

We do need a playmaker at safety. We have had a *combined* 2 interceptions from ALL of our safeties, in the last 39 games.

That is really the glaring weakness of our team, besides field goal kicking.

We passed the ball very well. We ran the ball very well. We sacked opposing QB's at a pretty high rate. We were 2nd in points allowed. We didn't give much up when we kicked the ball away. We had a below average QB rating allowed on defense. Why? Because we could't come up with INT's unless it was Mike Jenkins.

Tough for corners to get a lot of INT's because if they do, chances are they are hit and miss in coverage because good corners who make INT's will not get thrown after awhile. Where you really make your INT's is with the safeties an 2 picks in the last 39 games just doesn't cut it.
