1) Reed is still a big playmaker.

2) I'm sure he is contemplating retiring because of a neck injury that he has been playing with. He is 1 bad tackle/hit away from being paralyzed.

I would love to have him on our team, but not for a 1st round pick. Too risky, even with his ability.

You can't be serious... Ed Reed is an amazing player, but no you do not trade a #1 for a guy thinking about retiring.

Ed Reed is a near God in Baltimore. The only sports team the area cares about is the Ravens and Ed is right behind Ray in terms of being loved. There is zero chance Ozzie would trade Ed Reed

He has a piching nerve in his neck that he's been dealing with for Two years, he's quoted in the Baltimore Sun as saying it's 50/50 on retiring.

He will be 32 next year. I love the guy, but it's a little late to be giving up a #1 for him.

Bingo!

Are we the Commanders now? Giving up all our #1 picks... etc........

Madden and fantasy football. People have become convinced that one player here or there is all you need. They no longer look at the game as a team, but individuals with talent.
Tell that to Minnesota. :p:

I'd do a #1 for Troy Polamalu, hes only 28. I doubt the Steelers would consider it, look how their D fell apart without him.

I'd give a #2 for Ed Reed, if he plays two more seasons it is worth it.

He's not worth a #1 at this point for 3 big reasons, IMO.

#1: There is the thinking of retirement thing. That has to scare you a bit.

#2: He's 32 years old and that's pretty old for a safety to be giving up a #1 for. Now he could turn out like Sharper and keep playing well for the next 2-4 years and then maybe it seems worth it but I wouldn't bank on that and that's because of reason #3.

#3: The reason he's thinking of retiring is the nerve issues he has from neck problems. Those nerve issues make me seriously wonder that even if he wants to play how long he could last.

So, basically, thats 3 huge red flags, IMO, that would keep you from even thinking of giving a #1 for him.

a #2 though and it becomes a different story. To me, a #2 you could land a big player for the next decade, or you trade it and potentially land one of the best safetys in the past few decades now.

Hmmm...i dont know. With the O-Line help we need and the fact that we need a safety for more than a year or 2 I don't even know if I'd do it for a 2.

I'd have to be pretty darn sure that he'd give me no less than 2 really good/great years and I'd honestly really want to have more than 2 for that #2.

But I might at least entertain discussing the offer for a #2. A #1 I wouldn't even allow a discussion to begin.

#1 is out of the question, we need O-line help, and youth at that. Now if Baltimore would do Michael Oher & Ed Reed for 1 2 and 3 Hamlin & Flozell, I would jump on that in a second. But thats just Madden Talk.

Ed Reed for a #2 is a fair deal, we have a very late #2 pick so I don't see giving it up as a problem

If anyone would, it'd be Jerry. Heck, he'd probably even throw in an extra 3rd just so he can *lipsmack* get his man.

I would give him a look as a free agent, but to give up a 1st round choice, no way. He is pretty beat up and has had neck problems the last few years.

We cannot move back, we need to move forward, get a young guy in here with ball hawking skills, they are hard to find, because if it was that easy, every team would have a Troy Polamalu or an Ed Reed.

Jairus Byrd is the youngest player with Ball Hawking skills, doubt the Bills will part with him.

In my book, Reed is only worth a 3rd & 5th rounder, IMO a 2nd rounder is seriously pushing it. The guy could retire at any minute because he has neck problems which can force you out at any time (ie. Dat Nguyen).

Oher is a good player but most people only know him because of the movie. I think you're best off just replacing Flo with Free from within without giving up anything. Free played pretty darn well @ RT and many people agree he'd make a better LT than RT.

If we all really want a ball-hawkin safety I think we should either draft one early or just try to develop one from within (Mike Hamlin has been considered a ball-hawkin' safety in college and I think the Boys can develop him into a starter).
