Would you trade Leary for a RB?

Speaking of Green, I thought I saw him on the field in pads last night. Didn't see him in any drills, but just seeing him in uniform was encouraging to me.

Boatright and Green both have number 79. I think you saw Boatright.

For years the complaint was that this team just handed players starting roles. Collins hasn't proved to be better than Leary as of yet. There's no need to get rid of a good player in hopes of landing another unproven commodity, which is all the team would get if they tried to trade Leary.

Seems they are happy with Randle and the way he looks in TC. I say no trade involving Leary. Even if he is on a 1 year deal. DMC testing his hamstring today, hopes to be back to practice Saturday. Let's wait and see what happens and how Randle looks in a pre season game.

I disagree. If we're looking through scraps, that's what we'll end up getting.

And by the time they're cutting those scraps, the season is about a week away. I'm not confident in getting scraps up to speed in a week's time to play against a division opponent in prime time.

Garbage in, garbage out.

Eh... We'll just have to disagree then.

There is a handful of guys that are a cut above and they get paid big bucks.. After that group, imo, they become a dime a dozen

The stupidity of those that don't pay attention to the coaches is mind boggling.....

Green has played RT since HS, he was drafted as our swing/future T.... They have stated numerous times their plans on Green.

Yet, people still say Collins is our best shot. Seriously Green is a damn good T.... Watched him I HS & at UF

SMH

Green is on the PUP. He is doubtful for game 1 and might not even play this season.

Some people just want to see Collins compete with Weems at OT. Green's talent is irrelevant until he is on the field.

If some team wants to give us a #2 next year for Leary, I would think about it but, trading for a backup
RB on another team...fugetaboutit!!! Collins has not been that dominant in camp so far and I'm not
sure he can start at LG day one against the Gints...

Oh, yeah, you're probably right then. My bad. Thanks for letting me know.

(and rats!)

At this point I prefer that he stays on the PUP. He is highly unlikely to become the top backup as a rookie that has missed this much time. If he is not the top backup, then it's better to have him on the PUP because it's a free extra roster spot.

If he's not able to get out there in a week or so? I'm with you.

Backup OT/RT is my biggest concern on the roster. With Collins at Guard, it's all on Weems to be the backup. At RT, Free is coming off 2 foot/ankle surgeries in the past 18 months and has been getting beat by Lawrence routinely.

Mine is running back, and it's not even close. This nonsense with McFadden being hurt all the time is driving me crazy!

We have Gibson. My pet cat working in at RT.

I like him too, I think he has a lot of moldable talent. I'm thinking that his roster fate is directly tied to Chaz Green's health.

But I think that if we somehow cut Gibson we lose him for sure.

What say you?

If someone offered a 2nd round pick I would seriously consider it, but no team would ever offer that, even if Leary made a pro-bowl.

He was a 7th round pick. I think he'd make it to the PS.

But there is always that inherent risk. Perhaps he is our new Weems. A guy they like so much they protect on the active roster.

RB is all about Randle. I like McFadden, but I never expected him to be the #1 RB. They were always going to succeed or fail based on Randle, IMO. It would be nice if McFadden could lessen the load on Randle, but that's a complete season issue. If Randle has to carry a bigger load at times it should be OK as long as his load averages out over the season to a reason number of Carries.

There have been many times in the past where I thought they should have held players out longer, but they didn't and those players often were ineffective or had recurring injuries. In the past couple of years they've been overly conservative and that is the approach that I prefer. I don't know about now, but McFadden said after OTAs that he could have participated in all of the practices but that they (trainers, coaches) were being extra cautious.

I like his upside, but he looks raw in the little bit of video that I've seen from TC. He was raw in college.

Keeping Green on PUP makes it much easier to keep Gibson on the 53 which is good, IMO; however, if Gibson has to play in 2015, I think that could be a problem.

I'm basing my belief on two factors:

One, he was on the phone scheduling a free agent visit with the Denver Broncos when he found out the Cowboys drafted him. And that was before the Broncos lost All-Pro LT Ryan Clady. I have to think that their needs there have only increased.

And secondly, there aren't enough of these guys in the entire league. The Giants spring to mind as another team that could use one after losing Will Beatty, and with the Seahawks handing out huge money deals lately and pushing themselves against the cap, they may not be able to keep their LT Russel Okung long term either.

I can see a lot of teams being in the market.
