Would you trade Leary for a RB?

Leary for Lamar Miller from Miami would be absolutely perfect I believe. They are hurting on o-line, that's why they were trying so hard to sign La'el after the draft. Lamar Miller is a real good young RB who had 1100 yards on 216 carries last year. It would help both teams out, I think that we should listen if the Dolphins show any interest in Leary.

I just can't imagine Miami doing that.
There's a real chance that Miller is a top 6-7 back this year.

Never say never, I guess

The stupidity of those that don't pay attention to the coaches is mind boggling.....

Green has played RT since HS, he was drafted as our swing/future T.... They have stated numerous times their plans on Green.

Yet, people still say Collins is our best shot. Seriously Green is a damn good T.... Watched him I HS & at UF

SMH

Green could very well be a good player at T, if he can get on the field and begin to prove his worth. But let's not get carried away just because you followed Green's career since HS, thus making you feel like a Chaz Bono, I
mean Green expert.
Collins is fairly well versed in more than just one position, and is earning his stripes as we speak, unlike somebody.

Just sign Steven Jackson or Chris Johnson and we'll be fine.

What's the obsession with this board with wanting to trade Leary for everything?

Leary is the new coakley

I would be willing to do it under certain circumstances but only for a top flight RB. First, I would wait until after final cuts are made to see who may be available unexpectedly. I'd hate to trade Leary only to find a comparable RB available a few weeks later for free. Collins, Green, and the other backup OL would have to prove to be solid and the RB coming back would have to be starting quality and no older than 27. Lamar Miller would fit the criteria but I'd make all other teams make final cuts first. A RB like Miller could come in just after final cuts and play week 1 no problem, especially if he is only being asked to split time with Randle.

I'm basing my belief on two factors:

One, he was on the phone scheduling a free agent visit with the Denver Broncos when he found out the Cowboys drafted him. And that was before the Broncos lost All-Pro LT Ryan Clady. I have to think that their needs there have only increased.

And secondly, there aren't enough of these guys in the entire league. The Giants spring to mind as another team that could use one after losing Will Beatty, and with the Seahawks handing out huge money deals lately and pushing themselves against the cap, they may not be able to keep their LT Russel Okung long term either.

I can see a lot of teams being in the market.

Well teams ARE always looking for tackles. Just makes you wonder why a guy like him...with his physical tools lasted so long.

Every year we worry about a guy not making it to the PS. They almost always do. If he makes the 53 i'd be ecstatic.

if Collins and Gibson are the real deal and no injuries happen in TC. Would you call Seattle or Miami and say lets make a deal? I think at this point I'm leaning to doing it..

I was thinking this same thing. I'd trade Leary for Tre Mason in a heart beat.

Would I like to have Miller? Yes. In a trade for Leary? No. Trade a pick, not one of our starting OL.

Nope. If an OL goes down we're gonna need him and he was a component of arguably the best OL last season. We need to maintain depth at the position.

Worst case you look at roster cuts late in the preseason or sign a street vet after week 1.

Yes. As Steven has said constantly looking to improve the roster.
I'm sure the scouting department is looking at every player now.

Before I even think about trading Leary (which I don't understand why people sleep on him) and breaking up my Oline, I would bring in both CJ and S. Jackson. I would add them to the mix beofre breaking up my O line. Just add one from the draft next year.

RB is all about Randle. I like McFadden, but I never expected him to be the #1 RB. They were always going to succeed or fail based on Randle, IMO. It would be nice if McFadden could lessen the load on Randle, but that's a complete season issue. If Randle has to carry a bigger load at times it should be OK as long as his load averages out over the season to a reason number of Carries.

There have been many times in the past where I thought they should have held players out longer, but they didn't and those players often were ineffective or had recurring injuries. In the past couple of years they've been overly conservative and that is the approach that I prefer. I don't know about now, but McFadden said after OTAs that he could have participated in all of the practices but that they (trainers, coaches) were being extra cautious.

I like Randle too, but the team has to have reliable options behind him. No matter how well he does, you need other guys capable of spelling him and carrying part of the load.

I have little faith that Dunbar could handle a workload like that and I have even less that McFadden can be relied upon.

I'm starting to think that they might have to keep 4 backs on the roster.

I think we know why he lasted, he's a developmental guy and where you put him depends on your roster and your patience. If you can spare the room, a team can keep him on their 53. And a team with a dire need would probably be willing to do just that.

I don't like the idea of trading Leary before Collins can beat him out, but I wouldn't necessarily rule it out if it looks like things are going that way by before the trading deadline comes around on November 3rd. Even then it would only be to pick up a starter if one of the running backs doesn't look like he can handle the load, or if we lose a starter at another position to injury and don't have an adequate backup. That said, having to deal with two starting guards for one position is a good problem to have. Leary is too good a player to give up without getting at least equal value in return, IMO.
