Would you trade Leary for a RB?

Im all for trading Leary if he loses the LG job and its not out of disrespect. I think if he loses that job he gives us an opportunity to improve our chances by dealing him. It would also be good for him as it would keep him on the field in a season in which he is playing for that all important 2nd contract.

What indication do you have that he's going to "lose" the Left Guard job? Did you watch a single game last year?

Did I say " when" or did I say " if"

Your assuming Ive already handed the job to Collins. Not the case

Absolutely not. Real good OL like Leary is much tougher to get than some RB. You trade Leary, then your depth is trimmed. Injuries happen.

RBs are dime a dozen in this league.

Nope.

Keep Leary, who is a really nice player.

I certainly wouldn't give Seattle a starter for one of their back-ups. Helping Seattle out is the last thing Dallas would want to do... I and would imagine that Seattle probably isn't in any itching hurry to be helping Dallas out either.

If Dallas decides they need another runner, I'd rather keep Leary and try to find a runner out the who's available right now (CJ, etc.). Much smarter IMO.

If your trading Leary, I would say he is a Day 2 pick value. Tre Mason is the only one right now I would swap him for. Given SF's defections on the OL and additions at HB ( Bush, Davis) they may listen to an offer for Carlos Hyde

Your post implied it. Regardless of the semantics, it's a ridiculous presumption even in thought.

Dont see where it was implied. I clearly said " if he loses his job". Id like to know exactly how I implied that he has already lost it?

And Seattle doesn't have a back that I would give day-2 value to (except for Lynch who is going nowhere).

If you've been reading anything I've written lately, you know that Tre Mason is a back I really like. I might would give Leary for him but I'm not even sure I'd do that.

And of course, all of this would only work if Collins comes out and clearly wins the job from Leary... which I'm not very sure is even going to happen.

Even if Collins does, that wont be settled until preseason is just about over

Carlos Hyde would kill it running behind this Cowboys line. I would pull the trigger on that deal.

... and they would want to get a new back in sooner than that. Good point.

Still, I think the coaches will have some idea about how good (or not good) Collins is going to be pretty soon... although I don't know that for sure.

I think we are going to have to see them both playing VS the #1's in preseason to get an indication as to is in lead. Leary is still in the lead because 1: He is running with the #1's and 2: He has already showed he is quality starter in the NFL. But you can't sleep on a guy like Collins who was rated as high as Martin was during the draft buildup. Both have mountains to climb

Wait. I was assured anyone could run behind this line. Are people getting nervous?

really depends on the rb you are getting back. Leary for Lamar miller? probably if they aren't confident in randle. leary for christine michael? nope.

Michael could be had for late rounder not Leary lol

Sure. I would trade him straight up for Todd Gurley.

I would trade him for Adrian Peterson if the Vikings would pay half of Peterson's salary.

Yes, on Seattle. Straight up for Marshawn Lynch.
All 3 impossible trades lol I know it's sarcastically though walker that made me crack up you answer for trading Leary, Uh No.

Absolutely not unless its Peterson or Jamall Charles and I don't think we want to pay a RB so it aint happening.

I want Leary to get signed long term.

That certainly won't be happening. They just resigned Free and Smith. They will have to resign Fredrick and Martin in the near future and Leary and his agent know they will get a very good contract on the open market regardless of his knee condition as long as he stays healthy for the remainder of the year. Factor in Collins who we have for the next 3 seasons at a bargain and the fact that we still have Macenzy Bernadeau for the remainder of this season who is vital as a backup for the 3 interior OL positions. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Leary for Christine Michaels or Kniles Davis. I think both of those guys could be electric behind this Oline.

If anyone thinks we're gonna find out one way or another if Collins and Gibson are the "real deal" by the end of their rookie training camps, they're fooling themselves. No way in hell do you trade away a proven starting offensive lineman and pray that your rookies can pull a Zack Martin Part 2.

Leary is better than Collins right now, as of today. So who would make our OL worse to make our RB situation better? How much better would the RB situation need to be to offset the decline of our OL?

No thanks, I'll stick with putting our best possible OL out there.
