I'll watch the SB no matter who is in it, and both teams would definitely deserve it. No matter what the regular season record, they would have proven to be the two best teams in the league. The regular season means nothing...(see the NE Patriots '08).
I'm pulling for the Cardinals.
I disagree with this thinking a ton.
This league has become a parity driven, battle of attrition between mediocrity (especially in the NFC) over "who doesn't want to lose the most".
Say, God forbid it IS the Chargers vs. the Cardinals. First off, nobody outside of San Diego and Arizona would give a rats ***. Oh, It'll get some numbers and viewers, because even a bad NFL game between two nobody's draws more people than Greta Van Susteren, Billiards, Poker or Bowling. Because that's all that's on other channels during the Super Bowl.
This is what you get, all you "parity" and free-agency and "it's fairer" folks.
You got what you wanted. There used to be a day, a BETTER day, when it was UNTHINKABLE that a 1-15 Miami team, or a 3-13 Falcon team made the playoffs the next year. Used to be that teams were BUILT, lasted, and gradually got brought back to "middle pack" status.
Not any more. Now, we have to live with the pathetic Falcons going 3-13 one year, making the playoff the next, and going 4-12 the year after. Or the crappy Dolphins going 1-15, then winning the "Patriot" division, and next year going back to 5-11.
No continuity. No Rivalries. No "top guns" to shoot at. Maybe the Pats, Colts and perhaps the Steelers are the only semblance of sanity left in this NFL.
Get ready for the Browns vs. the Rams in next years SB. And nobody outside of Cleveland or St. Louis will care.................
