ran across this interesting tidbit today.
Maybe we should have kept Hambrick?
4.1 ypc, that's impressive.

"In four college seasons and two NFL seasons, he has averaged 5.6 yards-per-rush on 604 carries. This type of production, along with his size and ability to play both backfield positions have Dallas coaches excited about his future."

thoughts.

He was never consistant running the ball and ypc can be misleading, it only takes 1 decent run to help your average but when you needed him to produce late in games he failed.

Unfortunately, that's also his IQ.

He would trip over blades of grass far too often. Despite being big and fast he was more of a finess back. Not a good combo, see Ron Dayne.

Hambrick did most of that on 3rd downs, where RB's are much more likely to get a nice ypc. Once he became a full time player, his true colors showed.

He was an awesome blocker in 2003 and if he had half a brain and some work ethic, he could've made a fine fullback.

yeah he did pretty good as a backup here and Parcells even praised his blocking when he was the starter in 2003 but he just didn't cut it as a full time RB

Let put it this way. I would rather have 22 TOs starting on my team than have Troy Hambone for even one day.

All that with his eyes closed. What do YPC mean?

Heh. Just realized. You're "yard per carry" would actually work in reference to T-Ham.

The same could be said for Barry Sanders . . . and no, I'm not comparing Troy Hambrick to Barry Sanders . . .

But this is how Barrys games would look . . .

-2 yards
4 yards
1 yards
-1 yards
3 yards
-1 yards
3 yards
50 yards
