NEW YORK -- Wide receiver Chris Henry was suspended by the NFL on Thursday for four games but may play the final 12 games of the regular season for any team that signs him.

Henry was released by Cincinnati in April after his fifth arrest. Commissioner Roger Goodell had suspended Henry indefinitely following his latest arrest. The charges against him on that arrest were subsequently dropped.
The 25-year-old player, one of a number of Bengals in trouble with the law the past few seasons, then applied for reinstatement.
Henry may participate in training camp and exhibition games if he is signed. He will be eligible for reinstatement following the fourth game of the season.
Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season under the league's personal conduct policy. He returned to catch 21 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns in eight games.
But the Bengals released him after he was accused of punching a University of Cincinnati student and breaking his car window with a beer bottle.
A jury failed to reach a verdict on an assault charge, resulting in a mistrial. Prosecutors dropped the case following unfavorable rulings by a judge before the retrial was to start.

I don't like him. I'll Pass.

Yeah, for some reason, this guy just seems way more punkish and thuggish than Pacman ever did to me. He is just a really, really stupid and despicable person.

No thanks. And again, he had substance issues, didn't he? That's where Jerry draws the line, and he's smart for that. No reliabiliy whatsoever.

Him not being able to go to camp really hurts his chances latching on to a new team. Maybe the bengals take him back during the season.

i thought it said he could go to camp and preseason

Oops, I wasn't paying attention to that part. Figured if he was being suspended they wouldn't let him go to camp.

This guy is a Touchdown machine...it is actually pretty ridiculous when you look at his Receptions to Td ratio.

2005 - 31 receptions and 6 tds
2006 - 36 receptions and 9 tds

We all know we need a WR who can stretch the field....we all know we are interested in adding another WR....now I am not saying I think we should go and get him...but the guy who makes those decisions for the dallas cowboys just might be thinking that way. I am pretty sure we aren't exactly looking for another WR for the 1st 4 games of the season, so his suspension probably wont turn jerry off too much.

No doubt, I had once thought that given time, he would surpass both Chad and T.J. as the best of the receivers the Bengals had. He was really that good and started to look a lot like a young Randy Moss to me.

But I just gotta say no. I have all the confidence in the world that Pacman will make it through this season without any off-the-field trouble, but I can say I'm equally confident that Chris Henry won't. He is that stupid.

he could be great it is just he can't stay out of trouble, but it would be a low risk high reward to bring him in cheap

Not that I want Henry (I don't)...

But if T.O., Tank, and Pacman (so far) can all come to Dallas and clean up their act, maybe Henry could do the same.

Calvin Hill appears to be a miracle-worker.

I think we should do with him what we did with Tank depending on how our WR are looking after the 1st four weeks.

An over worked miracle worker. I hope Jerry plays him very well.

The only reason not to take a chance is so people cant go "the cowboys are a bunch of thugs"

and for the record, pacman is probably worse than henry.

I think a lot of that has to do with Jerry -- he put it best on a Sirius interview the other day when explaining his philosophy about taking chances on players.

First, he said they had to have the potential to truly be great, a real game-changer. I think Henry fulfills that criteria.

But he also said he has to see a competitive fire, a real love of football, but just happened to make some mistakes. All three of the above also fulfill that, I'm not sure about Henry. He seems far more interested in being a thug than being the best WR possible.

And he also said he doesn't tolerate substance abuse, and I believe that's where Henry drops off the radar. Jerry will not touch this guy, mark my words.

No, but Jerry is, and that's all that matters.
