Neither of these two would change a darn thing in Dallas...not a thing. We need a NEW voice a NEW idea man a guy who has experience on the Pro Level running a defense.
I don't blame Zimmer for running off...the place is a mess. :banghead:

if parcells stays and either of these two assistants get the D coord job, get ready for another long year because the tuna basically OWNS them and gets the final say. more vanilla defense, PRAY big bill leaves and that we get a coach with good experience coaching the 3-4

Terence Newman seems to think differently (re: Bowles). Excuse me for thinking he knows a little more than you about the situation.

Nope we have all been told over and over and over and over and over and OVER again the ONLY problem on defense was Zimmer. So no matter who replaces him will be 100X better.

What do you mean, what is supposed to say?

He basically said that Bowles would be better than Zimmer. If he just wanted to be politically correct he would have kept his mouth shut. That he publicly derided Zimmer and expressed excitement about Bowles is telling.

I am a Syracuse grad. If Paul P has any real control on this team I will die laughing. College kids 18-19 years old didn't listen to him. He will lose control of the players by Week 2. It's bad enough that he's on the staff because he and Parcells are golfing buddies but if he gets anymore control than he already has, Jerry should fire himself. Wait, he should have done that ten years ago.

so the guy who couldnt teach Roy Williams pass coverage is expected to teach and design a dominating 3-4 defense? interesting.......

call it a hunch but i go with TNEW 100 times out of 100 as opposed to listening to the keyboard cowboys chatting here and elsewhere :)

No it isn't, and I'm not even against either of them. They'll probably do a fine job, but players say things like that all the time. It could just as easily be Newman making the best of the situation as it could be the honest to goodness truth that he actually believes a guy like Zimmer is worse than a guy like Bowles or Pasq. Common sense would certainly point to the former.

somehow this coaching staff seems to ignore what is obvious to the rest of the world, then when it comes back to haunt them, they feign shock and surprise.

last off-season, the biggest needs were felt to be OL and pass rush. go back and read our posts from that time, many of us felt that these issues were not adequately addressed (esp the OL) and even us fans felt that we were in for a mediocre season and a late season fizzle-out. we were chided by a few cool-aid drinkers to "go be fans of another team" or "do you know more than BP". well, yet another mediocre season and late season fizzle-out later (which no one could have predicted ) we are back to square one with the most pressing needs now being (surprise surprise) OL and pass rush. now a new DC has been added to the list.

these are all pressing issues but once again we are informed that "BP knows best". well, whatever. i am frustrated because i look at this team as my team and i am passionate about it and want it to have a coaching staff that has a passion for the game (does not need 6 weeks to recharge its batteries every year), has an innovative plan, and players that play with emotion and discipline. i want a staff that "expects to win" does not expect to lose and puts the players in a position to make plays. unfotunately that seems to be too much to ask. if BP stays and bowels (intentionally mis-spelled) becomes the DC, it will be more of the same and we will start the season on an upswing and we will hear a lot about how great this staff is and so on...until another late season collapse and fizzle, then the crying and complaining will start. many of us will have got what we asked for, unfortunately the rest of us will have to pay the price as well.

Does Newman say things like this all the time? No.

Common sense points to the understanding that Newman was frustrated with the coverage scheme being so predictable and that he thinks it will be better with Bowles. That is, after all, what he said. It wasn't like he was just being nice to Bowles just to be nice. No, he was expressing frustration with Zimmer. Seems pretty obvious to me how his comments should be interpreted, but you can read as many alternate meanings as you like -- I'll take him at face value.

To be fair to the "brain trust" having Colombo and Flozell at tackle was a significant improvement over Tucker and Petitti. Can't say that they didn't change anything because they changed 60% of the offensive line.

As for the pass-rush, we didn't have a problem getting pressure with Ware and Ellis. Chalk that up to a change made by the "brain trust" to improve the pass-rush.

i agree that we did make some changes and some of this is my frustration speaking. however, we seem to have a year-to-year plan rather than a 2-year plan and this is likely due to BP. to me, a leader surrounds himself with strong and motivated people (as BP has in the past), look at our staff now. our coaching staff is full of people who either "i dont know" or if they know, afraid to tell BP. the result is that if "coach" "dosent know" then nobody knows.
