Just watched a little of the Indi preseason game I saved, since it's the only Cowboys preseason game I got to watch from NE Ohio. As I watched Matt Moore take over for Brad Johnson, I couldn't help but see the sudden & swift change from 3s & outs to zipping the ball down the field with bullet spirals. In a matter of 4-5 plays, we're in the red zone, compared to punting from our own 35.
This is not to say Moore was better than Johnson......or is it? Just kidding....maybe. However, I think one of the best ways to tell just how good your player is, is from what other teams think about him. It didn't take long for the Cowboys to see just how well thought of Moore was, or is.
Obviously, waiving Moore was a gamble to try to slip him onto the PS. A stupid gamble, however. I mean, come on, we only have two QBs on the active roster. What would it have hurt to leave Moore as our #3? Nothing. Oh, yeah, I forgot, we wouldn't have been able to bring in that famous cover corner, Evan Oglesby. Wow, now I see their thinking.
There is a reason that San Diego, for example, has built a better roster than us over the past 3-4 yrs. They have second choice. They just wait for us to pick the Bobby Carpenters, then they take the Antonio Cromarties. We take Anthony Fasano, they take Marcus McNeil. We take DeMarcus Ware, they take ....., well, you get my drift. While we've been taking good, decent players, they've taken All-Pros. It wouldn't be so bad if they had first dibs!
The bad decisions go on to who we keep, as well. We waive Matt Moore, someone else scoops him up. Well, at least no one got Richard Bartell. Of course, no one wanted him, either.
