Comrades, pugilists, thinkers and recent parolees: We know who the heroes are.
And yes, every player has his bad plays, plays in which he is just an onlooker.
But I bring this augustian list of players and others who made this a closer game than it should have been.

1. Cory Proctor negating the long reception by T.O.
2. The ref calling interference in the end zone when the WR actually pulled down the Dallas defender.
3 An over-reliance on Barber to be the sole piston in the offensive engine. Felix needs waaay more activity in the running game. Sorry, Jason, you missed this one, though your passing game was awesome and I'm sure the running game will keep improving with a 1-2 combination of power (Barber) and agility (Felix).
4. Patrick Watkins. Leader in tackles but two crucial penalties by the youn'un kept the Eagles drives alive.
5. Brian Stewart. I get the feeling it's on the job training for him as defensive coordinator. You can blame Campo for the loose coverage, the awful zone near the line, and the way our line can't get to the QB unless your name is Ellis or Ware or Ratliff. This is a poorly used defense stocked with defensive monsters. But Stewart just cannot manage the operation. Even a Campo could take this defensive team and make it high performance, not the way it seems to be missing on cylinders. The way the Eagles marched over (at times) the Stewart defense.
6. Wade for not throwing the challenge flag on the end zone defense that gave the eagles a first and goal on the 1. If it could not be challenged, sorry about that, Wade. Also, Wade, waaaaaaay too many penalties on your watch.

Tell me who you think was a goat or just having one of those days.

Speak among yourselves.

Pac looks lost out there, he should never have released Jackson on the long TD bomb. The fact that Wade said Roy was not to blame on that play and Pac passed Jackson off to Roy on that play tells me Pac is the guy who screwed up, at least according to Wade.

So Pac has yet to make a significant play for us, but has already cost us 7 in live-action.

I am not impressed so far, he looks like a JAG to me.

Stanback was a goat.

  1. Didn't give enough effort pursuing Samuel on the INT. (he could have caught him well before he was tackled)
  2. Muffed kickoff
  3. Followed by a false start on the very next play.
  4. Didn't catch a single ball though the injured Austin Miles had two, and the rookie Bennett had one for 20 yards.

Sorry, GtB, but the Norman Rockwell pic doesn't make the delivery any more digestible. :)

:) '50s don't automatically mean NR. How you know it was norman rockwell, anyways?
It could have been his nephew, Howard.
But for better digestion, eat more roughage and fruits and take that water dissolvable product to keep you regilar.

How many offensive snaps did Stanback get? And when he did get snaps, what happened on those plays?

I don't get how you can be that critical of Stanback's performance on offense. Dallas does not run many 4 receiver sets and since he is the 4th receiver that means he doesn't see the field. How is he supposed to catch any passes if he is not on the field?

And when he is on the field, why should Romo look to him when other guys are doing so well. Romo only threw 30 passes and completed 21 of them for 312 yards and 3 TDs. That leaves 9 passes for Stanback and he was not targeted on those incomplete passes.

1 picked off
1 incomplete to Witten early
1 incomplete to TO on series after fumble
1 over throw to Witten
1 good play by Dawkins to deny Bennett
1 over throw to Barber in the flat
1 just missed Crayton over the middle
1 missed Bennett in the right flat
1 throw away when no one was open

Stanback also was not the one who got a false start penalty. It was Tony Curtis who jumped. You are being pretty picky on Stanback not making the tackle. Stanback tried to make the tackle and got juked, he then turned and Samuel was already 5 yards down the field. Austin then made the tackle. Stanback would not have caught Samuel before Austin made the tackle.

I agree that Stanback screwed up on the kick off muff. It was a short kick that he didn't expect. I don't fault him as much for that part as I do for him not kneeling the ball down for a touch back once he picked it up in the end zone. He needs to be aware of what to do in those circumstances and keep his head.
