You’re saying moving an all-pro RG to RT helped?

So you mean an All Pro RG moving to RT, and playing a 2nd year 3rd round OG at RG is better than All Pro at RG and a UDFA rookie at RT?

    Who woulda thunk???

Apparently the coaches 'thunk that'. Listen, if you had said that weeks ago they might have heard ya! LOL!

I mean let's also be honest too...Vikings defense sucks this year. Its one thing to do it against the Vikings its another against the Steelers.

martin played tackle in college and did it well in relief earlier this year. he isn't ever gonna be the weak link.

the question was mcgovern at rg or steele at rt, which is the better option...

It is a bit comical when you say it like that. The only thing I can think of is that they were afraid it would hurt the run game since they like running behind Martin. It's a sad excuse, I know, I can't think of anything else.

All star cast of coaches no doubt but I'll lay off for now cuz they're on a one game winning streak, lol.

Martin would still play at a pro bowl level anywhere on the offensive line. He's playing tackle out of necessity. It's not a permanent position move.
he will be back at left guard as soon as Collins is back or sooner.

McGovern three weeks ago was worse than Terrence Steele, the difference this week was McGovern was mentally ready to be on the field instead of Steele.

    Yup.

There was really nothing to suggest that McG would be any better than Steele.

The guys standing around the hole watching and commenting on how the ditch diggers digs are always right in theory. But the dirt gets tossed out by the guy doing the digging.

Failure is an orphan, but success has many fathers.

Right, and the answer appears to have been Steele earlier in the season.

I don't think this is a case of not knowing that Martin was the best answer at right tackle, but more of what was the best combination of players. I'm not sure why they were down on McGovern at the beginning of the year., whether he was just behind coming off injury, was struggling or was injured.

All of those pointing this out to be a no-duh move aren't accounting for all the shifting parts we've had on the line. To me, this move is more about McGovern's progress than Martin being clearly better than Steele.

    True
But just maybe if that digger had done a little better than 11-16-1 in his last 2 years of digging at his previous hole and a bit better than 3-7 at his current hole, then just maybe the guy standing around wouldn't be as likely to comment on how he digs.
Just my theory though and how maybe this new orphan's adopted family only knows failure regardless of the family support provided the orphan.

I've been asking for this since the end of September.

Took these pro coaches this long to figure it out. o_O

Playing a week defensive line also helped.
