We win and you guys are talking SB, we lose and you guys wonder if we'll make the PO. We are 2-2 with only 1/4 of the season played. Our division truly sucks and we have shown we are better in many, many areas. Keep it together and let's not judge where this team will be until the mid-way point. Watching the NFL as long as many of you have, you should be aware that the talent gap between teams is minimal and that's the way the NF wants it. Each week is a fight and teams can get hot at the end and win it all. Also, we are moving in the right direction so shelve the SB talk but let's see if we can make the PO in a division where 8-8 looks like it will win it.

Public service announcement to stave off suicides.

Going 8-8 and winning the NFCE would mean absolutely nothing. 4 weeks in, all we see is the same team with the same issues. Another wasted year. Romo, Witten & Ware all a year older. There is really nothing to discuss about this team that doesn't start at the top of the organization.

What’s the point in winning a division due largely to the ineptitude of the other teams?

Winning the division at 8-8 would in all likelihood mean we’d be one and done in the playoffs.

And judging on the last few years when we’ve been in win or go home games it wouldn’t be pretty.

Hardly the springboard for future success.

Just like the team.

This week we are suffering from pessimistic negativism. :D Jimmah was right.

This team is bi-polar
Our team is bi polar..
I keep seeing comments like this. People in the postgame thread were calling us the most inconsistent team in the league. I find it completely bizarre.

We beat a terrible Giants team at home.
We lost to a not-terrible Chiefs team on the road.
We beat a terrible Rams team at home.
We lost to a not-terrible Chargers team on the road.

We seem perfectly consistent to me. In what way are we bipolar? Do people really not understand that the quality of opponent matters?
We're a team that's gone 8-8 the last two years and is installing a completely new defense. Most preseason predictions had us around 8-8 or 9-7. And here we are at 2-2. Now, maybe you want us to be better, but that's a whole different complaint.

You want to see a bipolar team, look at, say, the Bengals: beat the Packers last week, lose badly to the Browns this week.

2 years? More like 16-17.

Or whenever it was jeffro thought he could win with any one of 500 coaches.........

No it isn't but, with the talent gap so close, any team in the POs has a shot. consider the last 3 SB winners having a combined regular season record of 29-19 (.604)(Avg 9.67 wins per season). The NFL has made it this way with salary caps and so forth.

You’re confusing possibility with probability.

Those SB winners you mention had a much better track record in their preceding campaigns that Dallas has shown in the last few years.

The Giants for example won the SB in 2007.

An 8-8 division win and playoff appearance would likely convince Jerry that he’s on the right track.

Agreed. It doesn't take much for Jerry to get excited about. Say we just barely slip into the playoffs and barely scrape by at home or even lose the game, Jerry will be tooting his own horn about how we made the playoffs and we haven't done that since 2009, so we are getting "closer". Even though the rest of the NFC east was terrible and we only made it because we were the least of the terrible NFC east teams.

Some predictions had the Cowboys at 6-10!

If the talent level is as close as you opine then what accounts for the difference that the Cowboys have failed to procure?

The sane fans know this team is a perennial middle of the road, mediocre, squad. Those wearing blue tinted glasses continue to spout off about "superior talent", playoffs, Romo being the best Dallas QB ever, & super bowls.

Fortunately, more fans are taking off the blue tinted glasses and are being forced to a realm of sanity.

<< See name and avatar. Jerry has made more than his share of mistakes and poor talent evaluation and terrible trades. We are a skilled, middle of the road team that isn't managed very well. Jerry loves big names and over pays for mediocre returns that makes us cash strapped and drafting in the middle of the rounds. Meaning, unless we get hot at the right time, this trend will continue until total collapse and the process starts over. New coach, new system, new players and the same result.
