Palmer won't be a candidate. The only internal candidate would be Sparano, who by all accounts did an excellent job this year, with maybe Todd Bowles having a very outside shot.

I'll tell you, it's very interesting to me that Bill announced this when he did. You figure, it would have been logical to have Zimmer as an in house candidate for HC. I believe that Jerry even elluded to something like this on his last contract. Now, I understand that much has changed but it still strikes me funny that only days before announcing his retirement, the strongest candidate of succession would take a job as DC else where.

Does this not strick anybody as odd?

I agree. In fact, I think Jerry might already know who he's going to hire. This is why no effort was made to try and keep Zimmer.
