Wade might not be Bill Bellicheck.....but he has coached for over 40 years. But he has had to sit back and watch Jerry Jones "Golden Child" play football like this is Madden '09. He has had to say things like "we need to get TO the ball more" to appease the owner. But I think a change IS coming.

This will be a running team that will STOP asking Romo to win games.

This will be a tougher defensive team from week 1.....not week 12.

Wade will HAVE the authority to tell the WRs/TEs/QBs or whomever to sit down and shut up appreciate a 14-10 victory.

Wade will churn the bottom of the roster and cut guys who don't cover kicks like there life depended on it...guys who fall asleep when they should be looking for the on-side kick....in other words special teams will have disciplined, consistent, hungry players or they will be gone.

You don't win in December trying to get TO, Roy and Witten 100 yards each. You win in December playing tough defense.....solid special teams....penalty free....power football. And the guys that don't get it will be benched and sent home. This is about winning. Not about everyone getting their touches.

It seems like the owner may have figured this out and if he has...everything else will fall into place. Jerry needs to stop talking Super Bowl...Jerry needs to stop talking about who needs to get the ball....Jerry needs to stop playing team physician. Jerry needs to stop underminding his coach by roaming the sidelines during the game, taking over the lockeroom with pep talks/dress downs. If Jerry makes these changes....Wade will probably do what he has WANTED to do for some time...but lacked the backing of the owner. Not saying Wade will morph into Lombardi....but this fantasy football that Garrett has been trying to play. Various players on the team going to multiple media outlets giving the "state of the union" on the team. The same players commiting the same penalties over and over and over again....all of this will not continue without consequences.

Whether we like it or not...this coaching staff and the majority of these players will be back...so we need to get on board and hope this is the solution

Bologna!

He was asked to do that midseason and this team absolutely fell on its face.

how can you that when the owner was STILL telling the media we need to get TO the ball? If you are Wade or Garrett...and Jerry is paying you....and Jerry is saying that to the media...what do you think that did to the coaches and to Romo?

I wish you were right, because that would be a quantum leap forward.

The way it is now, it really is like Jerry's the head coach of sorts while Wade does defense and Garrett does offense. I'd love to see Wade have more say over things. I think we'd run it more, play a more complementary kind of game (as Parcells said), and probably see some different personnel decisions.

Said it before, but Alan Ball vs. Courtney Brown in the war room is a perfect example. Wade wants the guy who isn't fancy, but is a physical, tough guy from a big conference -- a football player. Jerry wants the whiz-bang small school workout warrior who put up great combine numbers.

Jerry, of course, "wins" and takes his man Brown. We get lucky later and get Ball, too.

Two years later, Ball is a capable backup corner who turns into a good gunner and is named the special teams player of the week at least two weeks in a row. Meanwhile, Brown is scared of his shadow, won't hit anyone, and is inactive every week.

This team needs more of the football coach guys and less of the Jerry guys.

I'm doubtful, though.

So....why exactly would JJ stop being JJ? Easy answer: he won't. I'm thinking 8-8 next year AT BEST. Love to be wrong though.

PS: good post Choc. Lab: perfect example of why the "joker' should step aside for a Real GM

I'd love to be a running team especially with the backs we have. we have to run the ball to protect Romo cause like any young/inexpeirenced qb they're just not that good like Romo.

Shyeah, give us a break man! Have you LOOKED at Wade Biscuits-N-Gravy Phillips track record? The guy has yet to post a W in the post season. He's .500 over his last 20 games here. He is not a guy to get it done. Unless getting it done means licking the plate clean.

We are paying the price now for Jones' ego, and for his now self-delusional conclusion that he shouldn't have fired Chan Gailey. Someone buy Gollum a mirror so he can see the true nature of our problems.

I'm more inclined to believe that a team name change to the "DALLAS CUPCAKES" will happen before anything above. It's a nice dream though.

good one, i needed the laugh

by the way, i am looking to sell a couple of hundred acres of land in south carolina. some people have been giving it a bad rap, it is not really swamp land. i am sure you will agree when you look at it through your rose-colored glasses. wanna buy it? what do you say?

also, in case you hadnt noticed,

the economy is doing great,
the real estate market is on the rise
wages are going up

you get the picture.

And now if Detroit can take Garrett and let Wade hire his own offensive coordinator, that'd be incredible news!

This really happen??

If so, who chose small school Erik "who?" Walden over big school Peyton Hillis?

Maybe Jerry Jones is ready to kick himself upstairs and let his son be the GM while Phillips remains the coach. That would be an interesting development. The father taking the Parcells Miami approach.

:)
