This is not meant to be a "candy cane and lollipops" post but we have to agree the Boys responded last night, and in a BIG way!
Positive Developments/Signs-
- Romo stepped in and stepped up to the calling. In itself is a HUGE statement but he put forth a performance that showed presence, confidence (or the board prefers the term moxie) and that much needed ability to make plays that used our wide array of weapons
- OL and assigned blockers showed a much greater ability in executing and meeting their blocks/assignments, which allowed time and room to execute all facets of our offense.
- Running game delivered......made short/mid/long runs, allowed us to change/control game momentum, the clock and beat down their Defense.
- special teams- punting, punt and KO returns.....flipped the Panthers head over heals and stole any chance they thought was there to stay in it
- turnovers- ratio was way in our favor, and we capitalized
- finishing the game- not only finishing off the game.....during the 2nd half, we managed to take over and own the game. and like my girl friend (who i'm working on being a die hard Cowboys fan) always says, what you do in the second half matters most......we got stronger and better
Areas needing work-
- penalties- too many and at critical points of the game. Could be our Achilles tendon when games are truly a do or die.
- kicking- still shaky to me.......Vandercheck (sp) hasn't proven to me he's a given commodity yet
- OL- not by any means perfect last night was a world of improvement in the way of execution, creating running lanes and providing time to pick the best throw. Still more work/depth needed.
Lastly, continuity. The past 5+ years us Cowboys fans have gone through this roller coaster of flashes of brilliance followed by performances falling way short of expectations. Another week clicking, two and then three that involve wins is the true test.
These are my humble thoughts, pls share yours.
Also, replies from extremers (i.e. we're Super Bowl bound or last night meant nothing, you homers) are not needed.
