...you can pretty much cut the roster to 53 in early May.

A lot of pretty good players are about to get cut. Hopefully, Dallas can be proactive and look for trades to shore up areas of deficiency, such as 1-tech and safety.

There will only be a few position battles up for grabs. The fullback competition(or no fullback if they keep Hanna and Swaim); the battle between Farmer, Whitehead, and Goodley for two spots; the battle for the 9th OL spot; the battle for the final LB spot; and the battle for the final two DL spots. That's pretty much it.

I only see seven spots up for grabs. That means you have a dang good football team.

My guess in early May, with guys in danger in bold:

QB (3) - Romo, Weeden, Vaughn
RB (5) - McFadden, Williams, Randle, Dunbar, Collins
WR (6) - Bryant, Williams, Beasley, Street, Farmer, Whitehead
TE (3) - Witten, Escobar, Swaim
OL (9) - Smith, Leary, Frederick, Martin, Free, Collins, Green, Bernadeau, Weems

S (3) - Wilcox, Church, Heath
CB (5) - Scandrick, Carr, White, Patmon, Claiborne, Jones
LB (7) - McClain, Lee, Hitchens, Wilson, Gachkar, Brinkley, Lawrence
DL (9) - Gregory, Hardy, Lawrence, Mincey, Crawford, McClain, Hayden, Whaley, Gardner

LS - Ladoecuer
K - Bailey
P - Jones

or if you leave out factors. do you really think we dont have to scour for potential players when we know at least 1/3 of the team will be sitting with injuries? Lee alone is a good bet of sitting, followed by McFadden, and lucky if Romo doesnt go down because we are so stellar with Weeden who we had no faith in to beat the Skins,

your TE line needs revision

If they keep Hanna, I think Collins is gone.

I think they want a blocking tight end more than a pass catcher. Escobar is the pass catcher, Swaim is the blocker, Witten is the all-purpose. Hanna can't block me.

I think where this team is good it is really good, but we're still weak at DT and safety.

You have us cutting our 5th round pick and two 7ths. I just don't see them parting with Russell so soon.

Everyone knows I like Synjyn Days - I think he makes the team but honestly I can't figure out where is roster spot is.

Parting? No, they'll be on the practice squad.

Synjyn has to be able to play special teams, and he's just too slow.

I like that Swaim kids blocking skills.

I just worry about his strength at the NFL level.

Im sure we all initially rolled our eyes when we drafted this guy but he looks like he could be really good at sealing the edge on zone blocks.

Gardner is my pet cat. I think he's going to surprise some folks.

but they'll keep 3 TE's, so if Hanna is gone, then Swaim isnt in danger

Hanna was a far improved blocker last season. He took a lot of snaps from Escobar specifically because he had upped his blocking game so well.
