Every accomplishment in life has a negative associated with it. And the greater the accomplishment the greater the potential failure. But that's life.

Many of us have children. There's the potential your children grow up to be awful people, die before you do, etc. But that's the risk you take to contribute to God's great gift called LIFE.

Those so fearful of the negatives or failures do nothing. And maybe they don't experience the pains associated with failure, loss and disappointment. But they also don't fully enjoy the truimphs, successes and victories as well or truly live life either because both failures, disappointments and losses and victories, successes and triumphs have a way of enriching our lives and making us complete as people.

You can never measure the depths of your love unless you experience the depth of your loss because loss makes you truly appreciate how much you love(d) something or someone. And in this particular context, though we aren't hoping for it, you'll see by the hurt from a loss those who truly love this team - or at least they will see it even if they don't reveal it to us.

Agree with the premise of the bigger the game, the more a loss hurts and yes the losses by a play here or there are the worst.
Perhaps equally as grinding are the big game losses that you view as tainted by an refs call or non call.
Almost every older cowboys fan will tell you that Lynn swain was not interfered with. Hate the steelers to this day.
See the dez non catch for reference and then imagine that was the super bowl
Totally agree. When a play brings about a rule change (incidental contact) then you know you've been jobbed. Swan tripping on Barnes running stride for stride...that's a PI?!! Pathetic. Totally changed the complexion of the game as we had been COMPLETELY shutting down their offense in the entire 3rd quarter. Conspiracy theories abound for me on that one. Smh.

I do in fact know this to be true. When God decided to be "with us" (Emmanuel), he used a Star in order to mark the location of his team in Bethlehem. If you follow this Star, you are considered a Wise Man.

Super Bowl losses and conference championship losses hurt far more than divisional and wildcard playoff losses.

The narrowes margins of defeat hurt far more than a blowout because, hey, if they got their butts whooped then the other team was clearly better. However, when you know they lost by a single play, a single action, that play lives on forever.
Well I am the opposite, I hate being blown out way more than a close loss.
conference championship loss.....as long as they play good, and game is close I am ok with that, it will be nice just to get
in one again after all these years!
Super Bowl loss....... Same thing just getting there is something after all these years. and I want them to play good.

And sure a win in those is even better, but if they dont win, at least they gave us a great season, and a playoff run, and if it goes to SB
that means cowboys played every week.

I used to get bummed out when we didnt even make the playoffs, so had to have substitute teams, that I could root for in playoffs ! lol

After last year, this is all very good, regardless how it turns out.

That Steelers team was just better than the cowboys, they went to 4 SB's and won all 4

Bradshaw called his own plays, which I think gave steelers the edge over the cowboys.
Had Roger been able to call his own plays, maybe they could have beat them.

Hopefully not.

It's exciting to have one of the best teams again, the potential has created so much hope.

It's obviously a great feeling when your Cowboys win the Super Bowl. However, let me warn you about the reverse.

The closer you get to a Super Bowl championship before your Cowboys lose, the worse it hurts, particularly when it's really close.

Close Super Bowl losses linger like any horrifying memory.

And every single time the Cowboys have lost a championship it has been really REALLY close.

...two losses to the Packers on the last play

.....a 3 point Super Bowl loss to the Colts on a last minute field goal.

.....two 4 point Super Bowl losses to the Steelers.

The Cowboys have lost 5 NFL championship games, every single one by 7 points or less. Before Super Bowl 25, the three closest games in Super Bowl history were the 3 that the Cowboys lost.

The Cowboys have won 5 NFL championship games, every single one by double digits.

The Dallas Cowboys have never been lucky, quite often they have been unlucky. Therefore, they can only win a Super Bowl by dominating leaving nothing to chance

The Cowboys average margin of victory for their five SB victories is 20 points, the total combined margins of victory for the Patriots is 13.

Why is this all true? The answer is simple. The Dallas Cowboys are God's team. That's right. God loves the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, you may have noticed by reading the bible that when God loves you, it's not a guaranteed ticket to a life of ease, luxury and pleasure. God doesnt want to appear to play favorites so he's got to be tougher on the ones he loves. He places certain "trials" on those he loves.

I mean, if they don't get eaten by lions in the Roman arena then they are being crucified, They might end up getting swallowed by a whale or their old lady gets turned into a pillar of salt.

He has a sense of humor so you could get punked.. "Hey Abe, you know that son that took 500 years for me to give you, yeah, kill him to prove you love me."

Then in Abraham's most traumatic, painful moment,

"Yo, Abe! Pysch, LOL, you were going to do it too!"

So, it's tough being Gods favorite team, the Cowboys dont get breaks during the game, not the good kind, at least. To win championships the Cowboys have to be unquestionably the best team. That is their "trial" and we fans suffer as a result.

I'm not trying to depress you and I am not jinxing the team. As I explained, I dont have too if I wanted.

It's all part of the package when your team is a great one.
Can't say I can cite theology to support our Boys being God's chosen (understand your analogy though) but agree with you that being on the top of the mountain comes with a price. Probably no franchise knows that pain better than the Atlanta Braves or Brooklyn Dodgers or even the Buffalo Bills. Indeed, based on your earlier logic Bills fans might argue that they were God's fave in the early 90s. ;)

As the old saying goes...if it was easy then everyone would do it. We've had more than our fair share of tough losses over this team's history - the one constant being that we've always been in the mix. Regardless of era or other rival team. We've always been there. We are the Yankees of the NFL (and thus reviled) and I suspect that trend will continue for as long as there's football.

At least you're not dreaming that Dak will get hit in the head and be out of the game this time.

You hush your mouth right now dandy. :D

I could point out to you that we had more wins in that decade and more Super Bowl appearances and that we lost both games to the steelers in controversial fashion. I could point out to to you that the 77 Cowboys were one of the best teams of all time...I could point out to you that the 49 ers of the 90's talk about the Cowboys being better than they were but the Cowboys of the 70's still believe they were the better team but I won't.... history is written by the victors

The 77 Cowboys lucked out playing a weak denver offense led by morton.
I felt sorry for him that game.
Cowboys were good, but Steelers were just a little better. And they were lucky lol sort of like the giants recent SB teams.
And their players made big plays in the big games like with dallas.

They had better win it this year, because God has traditionally liked to make these types of teams go 6-10 the next year for His bemusement.

The joy and the disappointment is what I love about sports, even when I played football and baseball. Losing sucks but you learn it is part of the game, if you are willing to play you have to accept that. You go out you play as hard as you can you leave it all on the field win or lose. I think this creates the passion of the game. I never worry that is the Cowboys lose I will be disappointed I just want to see them have the opportunity to win it all.

If we had given the ball to Dorsett more, we would have won Super Bowl 13.
I loved Tom Landry, but he had a way of overthinking in big games.
