You still want to replace Spencer with Butler?

I mean I still have high hopes for Butler and Williams to spell Spencer and Ware, but you guys were ridiculous.

This guy was a step short game after game, it was only a matter of time until he improved that one step.

When was this ever brought up? Are you talking about 8 or so weeks ago? I think that was a passing fad as some grew irritated with Spencer for not having any sacks. However, people need to remember that sacks are a notorious unreliable statistic and many great pass rushers have had seasons when they could hardly get any.

More recently, I only recall people wanting to give Butler some reps so Spencer and Ware can be fresher late in the game. Next year hopefully Brandon Williams and Butler will give us some more depth outside and allow us to rotate Ware and Spencer occasionally so they are fresh to tee off on QBs in the 4th quarter when we got the lead.

If the offense keeps churning out long drives the point is moot. When you hold your opponent to 20:00 TOP, Ware and Spencer probably not going to need any breathers.

Most snap judgments just makes people look stupid in the end. However, most stupid people won't stop making snap judgments. It is an never ending battle.

that was clearly the minority, at best a handful of people

most including myself wanted to see butler get more snaps. you can never have enough good pass rushers and he could be use to spell ware and spencer at times and keep them fresh throughout the course of a game

i wouldnt mind us finding a way to get all 3 on the field together. the way we talked about doing it last year with spencer,ellis and ware

one reason the giants linje was so effective was because they had not only 2 but 3 guys who could really get at it. tuck, osi and strahan. tuck who was actually 3rd in line was almost the mvp of the sb for them.

i think that all most was asking. hopefully next yr hopefully we can have guys who can rotate in so both dont have to carry to much of a load.

Every fan wants every player to succeed, to question that most times is plain stupid.

was Spencer playing up to his draft potential? No, you dont play the game for stats, you play your position, period. Was he doing it well in the beginning of the year? no not really. has he gotten better? yes. Is it his fault, we dont know, but to just go by the unknown and no one would ever talk about anything.

Has he gotten better, yes, but if Butler can play his position and get to the QB and cause havoc than yes I want Butler there plain and simple. Better player plays the position.

This is about a stupid of an argument as "how do we beat the next team?" same as always, GET MORE POINTS!!!!!!!!!

Then it was "BUTLER NEEDS MORE PLAYING TIME"

Next it was "DON'T GIVE ME THIS SPENCER IS ALWAYS CLOSE CRAP. AT SOME POINT YOU GOTTA MAKE PLAYS. GIMME MOAR BUTLER"

Now it's "I've supported Spencer all along. I knew he'd break out."

Butler coming in the game is certain situations I have no problem with but the fact is Bulter became the flavor of the month when he got 2 sacks vs carolina is garbage time then made a big play on the eagles last drive in game 1. Butler can be a helpful player to this team but he is not ready for any real extended play. Spencer on the other hand has been playing very well this season in spite of not having the sack total for most of the 1st half of the season right now there is no one playing better on defense than Spencer.

I think most people just wanted to get Butler on the field more simply to spell our pass rushers, whether that's Spencer or Ware. Butler clearly displays speed and a nice burst off the edge so many(well at least myself) felt that we could strategically use Butler more throughout the game while giving our star LBs a much needed rest.
